Full show transcript:

Hey there, Chantel. Hey there, Joshua. Hey there. Hey. We're surviving the time change.

Are we? I was. And then about a half an hour ago, I kinda hit a wall. Yeah? I was doing great.

I was like, I'm gonna nail this time change in the bud. And I don't think that means what you think it means. And then I'm gonna nail this in the bud. Yeah. Nip it in the bud.

Nip it in the bud. That's the saying, not nail this in the bud. Anyway, hi. Hi. It's Monday, March 10.

Welcome to the first Monday of Daylight Saving Time. Saving or savings? So it's officially saving. Officially. But everyone says savings, and that's wrong.

It is Daylight Saving Time. We're saving daylight. I guess. It feels like you're ruining my sanity. Yeah.

Let's have a nap. Okay. How to adjust to the time change? We've got some tips for you. Are we following any of them so far?

No. No? Okay. Good. Good advice then.

Good advice. Two thumbs up. Fundraising for families officially kicks off tomorrow. Hey. It's very exciting.

And if you wanna get involved early, you can, which is, which is cool. We'll give you all those details. A new way to get you to touch touch grass. Quite literally by touching grass. Josh is a grumpy old man.

I guess. Our daughter got behind the wheel yesterday, and I got nervous. Yeah. You did. You went Like that.

Well, you kinda did you kinda do that too? No. I did. I know. I heard.

It was right behind me. Tips to help your family eat healthier from East Idaho News. The good ones? Who didn't replace the butter in the butter dish? Why are you so mad about it?

Because no. I have cold butter to Cold buttered it and whatever. It's I'm just mad about it. I am mad about it. I'm just so mad about it.

I'm afraid to drive my car over the hole at the oil change place. Yeah. Why? It's scary. It's not.

What if the wheel goes in the hole? It won't. There's guys down there? Yeah. And?

Josh found some great pieces of driftwood. Yeah? Oh. I did. It's a big deal.

So exciting. Good wood. Gambling wasn't that much fun, like, at all. It could have been more fun. And I'm more poor.

Like, if I would have won money. Exactly. Yeah. What's with the upside down text hat trend? I don't know.

But I'm gonna make a custom one. You okay? Yes. I'm worried about it. I am worried about me too.

I'm excited. We'll blame it on the time change. I think so. You got time change, bro. Yoy.

We are Josh and Chantel. This is wake up classy 97 podcast. Hope you enjoy the show. Hi. Hi.

Does it feel like it's, six, or does it feel like it's five? It feels like it's five. I think, I think I agree. I think waking up this morning, it felt like it was four. I felt waking up this morning was dumb.

That's all. Uh-huh. I felt like maybe I should sleep in for a little bit longer. That's all. It's national napping day.

I heard about that. Means, you should take advantage. Yeah. I just don't have time to take a nap in the middle of the day. You do it instead of lunch.

Or Oh. You eat a quick lunch and then use the rest of your time for a nap. That's not a bad idea. Or during an important meeting. I like that idea better.

Lay your head down on the table in the middle of the meeting, and everybody goes, what are you doing? You go, hey. Hey. Hey. She she Easy.

It's national nap day. Get some googly eyes. Put some googly eyes on your eyelids so it looks like you're paying attention still. I I have some of those. I should have brought them.

Sit up. They're they're big ones too. They're about size of quarters. Sit with your eyes shut. Googly eyes and your eyelids.

That's right. I'm totally here. Here I am, wide awake. Look at me. I haven't even blinked once.

That's perfect. I'm paying so much attention. That's right. It is also Harriet Tubman day, which I thought was kinda cool. She died on this day in 1913, and so, they they dubbed it Harriet Tubman day.

They dubbed the day that she died her day instead of the day that she was born? I don't know. Maybe the day she was born falls on another holiday? Oh, possibly. Because they find out.

That what they typically do or a day where they have some kind of, like, major award or achievement or something. Interesting. She was born it only says she was born in March of eighteen twenty two. So maybe they don't know. Maybe they don't know.

Born Ah. Into slavery. So they probably don't have a record. Very good point. She was born in March of eighteen twenty two.

She died 03/10/1913 at 91 years old. Good for Harriet Tubman. Yeah. Pretty wild. So that's probably why.

They don't know. I bet so. So they just said, well, that's as good a day as any. Okay. We celebrate you today, Harriet.

There you go. And we'll celebrate by napping an important meeting. Absolutely, we will. Sounds about right. Well, good morning.

Hopefully, it doesn't eat you alive today because holy cow. Hang in there. Hang in there, Joan. Time change happened yesterday? You may or may not know.

I mean, I heard about it. Did you hear about it? Yeah. Did you feel it? Do you feel it in your bones?

I don't I don't know how I feel. I know as I come around to Wednesday, I know for sure I'm gonna feel it, by Wednesday. Sorry. No. I'm just saying that right now, I'm kind of I'm kind of in a getting used to it being awake.

It's still just a normal kind of feeling day. Okay. That's where I'm at. Here's some tips. Two tips to what?

To adjust. Oh, okay. Here's some tips. Alright. Cool.

Well, these are kinda just nice tips in general too. Okay. Get some sun. That sounds like a good idea. That's your life.

Gonna be a thing to do? Your internal clock. I don't know. Even if it's cloudy, it says. Like, get some get some fresh air and some sunshine even if it's cloudy.

Today's a great day to do it. A little bit windy, but highs are gonna be in the low fifties today. Celeste. Yeah. Don't lean on that extra cup of coffee.

Okay. Eat meals on your new schedule. Ah, don't don't fall back to the old times? Yes. So if you're hungry if you normally eat lunch at one, you might not feel hungry until two, but stick with your new schedule.

Alright. And don't eat dinner too late either. Sounds good. Also, get some exercise and hydrate. Plenty of water.

Okay. Good. I've got a big, how many ounces is this thing? 16. No.

72. 40 eight ounces. I was gonna say that next week. No. You weren't.

It's 48 ounces, which is a lot. But I'm I'm gonna drink at least this whole one today. Let me see how big it is. Is this big? It's a good that's a decent size.

It's 48 ounces. Bro. If I drink that much water, I'd be hightailing it to the bathroom all day long. Yep. Because I I should be drinking that much water, but I I drink probably let me hold that up again.

It's a it's a heavy one. I can I probably drink about half of that on the daily? So 24 ounces? Yeah. Okay.

Yeah. I mean, a small one of these is 32. This is the big one, so it has an extra. Do you think this is? Uh-uh.

Not not much. 24. That's what I'm saying. Yeah. That's what I drink.

And I still You have one of those? Yeah. You should drink two. Well, sometimes I drink one and a half. My goal is to try and drink three of these full.

Well, you should definitely try to get two. I know. I try. One and a half is pretty standard for me. It's pretty good.

Thanks. I bet that's closer to 16. Mine? I think it is 16, actually. It might say on the bottom.

No. Don't tip it over and spill it. I know. No. It's been wiped away.

Alright. Well, we'll never know. I think it is 16. I think I measured it once. I think it can hold two cups of water, which is 16, because one cup is eight.

This is three of them then. This is three of yours. That's a lot. I'd be I'd be going to the bathroom all day long. Well, good for you.

So drink water. Get some sun. Keep get some sun. Keep your meals on schedule. Keep your meals on schedule.

Hydrate. Did I say that alright? Drink water. Exercise. Exercise.

Alright. The usual All the things you should be doing anyway. Just the usual stuff. Okay. It's just good tips for daily all day every day.

Monday. Why does time change have to fall on a Monday? Now No less. On a Sunday. It falls on a Sunday.

Okay. That's fine. Walk into it. And somebody said, why doesn't it fall on a Friday at 04:00? Why don't we spring forward on a Friday at 4PM?

Yeah. Who was like, Sunday at two sounds good? Yeah. No. You know what sounds good?

Friday at four. Oh, it's five. That does sound awesome. Yeah. Come on now, guys.

Right. If we're gonna keep it, make it work. Make it worthwhile. Right? Come on.

Make it work. You did a A Tim gun? Tim gun. Yeah. Or get rid of it.

Yeah. Or that. That's fine. I'm not opposed to that either. Who needs it?

Stick to one. Quit making me flip flop all the time. It's craziness. It is. That's what I'm saying.

It's craziness. Straight craziness. Straight up. Some good news to get you going today. Retired basketball superstar Shaquille O'Neal.

You know him. I do know him. He continues to make an impact off the court. He's got a charity group called the Shaquille O'Neal Foundation. And recently, the foundation made a generous donation of $12,000 in educational resources to Nevada schools.

The donation includes 24 classroom in a box supply boxes, and each is valued at $500. They're personally autographed by Shaq, which is kind of a neat thing, I guess. But the boxes have inside of them supplies to support, up to 30 students. So it's $500 of supplies, and this is pretty cool. The executive director of communities in the schools of Southern Nevada said we are so grateful for partners like Shaquille O'Neal's foundation and the public edge education foundation who are proof of the positive differences we can make when working together to serve our children.

With only a few months remaining in the school year, this donation not only helps up to 24 teachers who often have to dig into their own pockets to ensure that their classrooms have adequate supplies, but it will also support more than 720 students, allowing them to learn and finish the school year strong Oh, that's awesome. Which I think is really cool. The boxes were distributed to four Clark County School District schools, so they'll benefit over 720 students, as I said. The donations, not only support teachers, but, they're gonna help those students finish out the year, and I think that's just phenomenal. So Shaq.

I know. What a He's always doing cool stuff. I know. He's, I I love, like, his shoes. He, you know, he they're just like Jordan's or, you know, everybody else's shoe.

It's the Shaq shoe, but he wanted to make sure that everybody could have access to them. And so he he said, I'm not I'm not doing 200 shoes. Not at all. My Shaq shoes are gonna be available to everybody. So he's a good guy.

He's a good guy. Really good dude. So Good story. Yeah. Some good news to get you going on your things.

Monday morning. Fundraising for families is kicking off tomorrow. This is a big deal. It is the sixth annual fundraising for families, and, we're trying to make a difference for families in need and support the Ronald McDonald family room at EIRMC. It's a wonderful, wonderful facility.

Last year, we got to tour it, and, and it's a really special place. It's awesome. And this fundraising for families, it your support is a powerful way to impact lives and bring hope and stability to families during this time where they might be feeling displaced or out of sorts or just stressed in general. So anything you do to help. Our goal is to raise $70,000 this year, and you can visit RMHCIdaho.org to donate today.

Or easy even easier, we do have the link up in the Classy 97 app. Oh. So that's super, super easy. You can just click the, link in the app, and you can make a donation. You can donate early.

Again, it's a three day event, and it starts tomorrow. And we're trying to raise a whole bunch of money to support the Ronald McDonald Family Room at EIRMC. This is a home like environment within the hospital. It is just steps away from where, their children would be receiving care. So ill or injured children that maybe are visiting the area or are from the area and happen to be in the hospital.

It is for use for all of those folks at no cost to them, and it is a great facility where you can go and grab a snack. You've got a living room. It it feels like home. Yeah. It does.

There's a TV. There's books. There's games. A shower. There's places to sleep if you need to stay overnight.

There's a whole bunch of, of of great things happening at the Ronald McDonald Family Room at EIRMC. And we wanna make sure that continues to be the case, and the only way to do that is to gather generous donations. And that's where you come in. You can make a donation, and we have some donors that are stepping up to match up to $30,000 during the three day campaign that starts tomorrow. So you can make your donation early if you like, or you can make that donation starting tomorrow, as we kinda roll out day one of the three day fundraising for families event.

We do have all the details, as I said, in the Classy ninety seven app. You can get them at riverbedmediagroup.com. You can find the details there as well. Help us raise a whole bunch of money. That's what we're trying to do.

Go check it out. Really great cause. So tap that link in the Classy ninety seven app, and thanks so much, for helping us out. It all kicks off, tomorrow. It is the sixth annual fundraising for families with Ronald McDonald House Charities.

We do wanna say thanks to, the Idaho Environmental Coalition. Who are the other folks that are helping out? Westmark Credit Union, I know is involved. We got some legacy sponsors in there, including the, Chickas and Johnson families that are the owner operators of, local McDonald's. Mhmm.

Who else is in there? I know I missed something. Everybody, but you forgot. Of Eastern Idaho. Yeah.

I got it. Is that all of them? Yep. Yep. Yeah.

Well done. Good job. Alright. Sixth annual fundraising for families kicks off tomorrow, but you can get involved today. Have you heard the phrase touch grass?

Yes. Do you know what it means? Well, it means to you touch grass to kinda center yourself or remember like, to ground yourself. K. Good.

That's true. It is a true thing. Thanks. I think it's used a lot of times in, in, like, online or when you're talking to somebody in the comments section. Because I think what happens is people get so disconnected with reality, and so they're they get told, hey.

You should go touch grass. You need to go touch grass. Like, you need to go away from technology. Yeah. You need to get off your screen, and you need to physically leave the house, go outside, and realize there's a world because you're trapped in a bubble or whatever.

Okay. So go touch grass. Yeah. That's that's, you know, the the long form answer. Right?

So Friday, there is a new app that is launching called Touchgrass. Why does there have to be an app for this? Listen to this. I'm listening. I like it.

It says it will offer users the opportunity to combat mindless scrolling. Because what you do is you, you get this app on your phone, and you, go in and select the apps you want to block until you actually go outside and touch grass. It will require users to prove they have literally touched grass using, computer vision for smart grass detection. So you get to choose which apps to block, and then you have to go outside, take a photo of grass, and then you can access those apps. It's yeah.

Mhmm. It's aimed at breaking phone addiction and building healthier habits while finding a balance with technology and reconnecting with nature according to the app's description. Hasn't it, it's become such a problem that we need an app Yeah. To help us To help us get off of apps? Get off of our apps.

Yeah. Yeah. Totally agree. Totally agree. But, anyway, the app comes out on Friday.

Okay. So if you wanna get it What's it called? Touch grass. Oh, easy to remember. Yep.

I'm not going to get that. But I do realize that I do need to do more Grass touching? Grass touching. Yeah. Not necessarily even that.

Just less phone time. Okay. I do realize that I've got a I got an issue. Not a problem. I like the the developer said, hopefully, people will get a laugh out of the app, but more importantly, I hope it offers them a chance to disconnect from the shackles of the digital world Yes.

And, allow them to connect with nature more, which I think is really important. Shackles. Yeah. The shackles of the digital world. Sounds I mean, it feels like that's what it is.

Right? Yeah. I'm shackled by technology. Anyway, good idea. A good reminder.

Yeah. If it helps, great. And I don't think it I I don't think it's gonna hurt. Does it cost money? I didn't not.

I didn't see if the app was was a paid app or not. I would assume it's not. K. Touch grass. Touch grass.

Sounds like Oh. Like a threat. Go touch grass. On top of forcing its users outside, touch grass will also track your screen time progress and offer flexible unblock durations as well as a free skip once a month. Oh.

So you can say, no. I'm not gonna touch grass. Just give me my abs. Yeah. I can't be bothered to go outside today.

The, it says that 50% of all skip purchase profits will be supporting the rewilding projects in The United Kingdom. So this must be developed out of The UK. But that's, an interesting thing. It will have the ability for you to pay money to buy skips instead of touching grass. But then that goes to help rewild The UK.

So there's that. Okay. Alright. Touch grass. Yeah.

Exactly. Grass. Hey. Go touch grass. Emery told me yesterday that you're kind of a grumpy old man.

Why am I a grumpy old man? She said, well, you'll you wear old man sweaters. Okay. So And then she said they're comfortable. She said we're both kinda old.

And I said, how why? She said that we both kinda when we sit down, we kinda grunt. That's just part of the being 40. I was like, everything hurts. Why?

It's not even that. It just that's the noise of standing, leaving my body, and then the noise of sitting, leaving my body to stand. Those were her two, reasons why she made you wear a mask. Man sweaters and the and the noises I make when I sit down. Yeah.

Yep. Grumpy old man. Well, that's not even that doesn't even qualify. I don't qualify me as a grumpy old man. Well, I mean, I do agree.

I don't agree with what I'm saying. Agree with her. Yeah. Yes. Well I said, sometimes he can be a little grumpy old man, but those are not good reasons why he is a grumpy old man, The grunting and the old man sweaters.

I'm I'm gonna look up some grumpy old man traits K. And and find out, what what old people do. That's not a very good list. Let's see. I'm trying to even remember what she was talking about.

What were we even talking about? Oh, I I remember what it was. I remember what it was. I was helping her with her hair, and we heard you in the living room. And she said, oh, dad's playing his game.

And I said, how can you tell? And she goes, I can hear it. It's so loud. I said, I couldn't I can't hear it. I don't usually have the audio even on.

She said she could hear it. It was really loud. And I said Weird? And we kinda started whispering a little bit because we didn't want you to hear. And I said, oh, he's gonna come in here in a minute because he's gonna be like, what are you guys whispering about?

And then she goes, yeah. He's kind of a grumpy old man. Well, that's What are you two whispering about? I guess. I don't know.

I don't feel like I'm a grumpy old man. Think you're a grumpy old man. Think you're a grumpy old man. I mean, there's times. Okay.

But that's true for everyone. But I also don't think that that's necessarily all that bad. I think that there are things that, like, like, I don't want people to walk on my grass. Why? Why?

I don't know. We don't have great grass. It's not even about that. Like, it's not like I'm I'm saying don't wear shoes in the house. Like, I'm not saying I'm not saying that.

I just I feel like if you step onto my grass, you better have a reason. Don't you think? Yeah. They need a place to walk. Yeah.

No. The set's what the sidewalk's for. I don't I don't mind if people walk on my grass. Get off my lawn, bub. I don't mind.

You can walk on my grass. It doesn't bother me. Don't come knock on my door. Right. That's gotta end.

I was a door to door salesman, for a while selling security systems when I lived in Arizona. I did not enjoy the job. No. I can't imagine anybody would enjoy that job. But but I did it.

And I think in the entire, you know, however many months I did that job for, I think I sold probably two. So I wasn't even that good at it. But they would also the way it works is they would drop you off in a neighborhood, and I think it still works the same way. They drop you off in a neighborhood. They say, Canvas this neighborhood.

We'll pick you up in a couple hours. And if you have any questions or you need you know, when you're signing people up for contracts, it was a little bit difficult. Like, everything was in paper because this was pre cell phone and stuff. And so you were just left there until the van came back to pick you up. And if you finished early, you just sat there until the van came back to pick you up.

Awful. It was not good. And they drop you off in, like, new construction neighborhoods in the middle of the day. Like, who's home, first of all, in the middle of the day, not a lot of people. There were a handful of people.

That was always a challenge. Like, you needed to be there at the right time to even get people, but then they don't want you at your house. They don't want you at their house. Nope. Nobody likes door to door door to door salesman.

And you are in Arizona? Mhmm. So that would have been extreme heats. Mhmm. That's a horrible job.

Why'd you have that job? Got them bills. Trying to pay them. That job is awful. I I'm sorry for you.

Yeah. I mean, it was a whole thing. You go through training, and they would have you, like, practice knocking on doors and practice your sales pitch and stuff. It was a whole thing. How was your sales pitch?

Not very good. Apparently, I only sold, like, two in the three or four months I did that job. But, anyway, that's that's gotta go. Like, as a grumpy old man, if I want whatever it is you're trying to sell, I'll send you out. You.

I know you're in the neighborhood helping my neighbor put up solar panels. Good for you. I don't need you at my door. Go away. Leave me alone.

Pest. Now you've shaken up my dog. That's right. Rang the doorbell. Yeah.

Now I'm gonna spend twenty minutes settling her down. Right. Walk away, pal. Don't come to my house. I will come find you.

That's a grumpy old man thing. And, also, don't walk on my grass to get to my front door. Stay on the sidewalk. I don't mind walking don't walk on my flowers. Right.

That's gonna make me angry. Gonna happen. If you walk on the grass, you're gonna cut corners. Plus, where's this a silly path through the front yard with so many people running through the yard? Our kids even.

They run through the grass. Do you think walk on our grass? Too many. Stay on the sidewalk. So you wanna, real quick, by the way, before I talk about football, because I got some football stuff, for you.

Before I dive into some football stuff, Kid Smarts. If you wanna sign your kids up to be a smart kid on Kid Smarts, do that in the Classy 97 app. Just open it up in the menu. You will see where it says Kid Smarts. You sign them up in there, one entry per per kid, and then we'll put you on our recording schedule, and we'll get you, get you into record so we can get some more What's Smart Kids for the change?

Group that you're looking for. I I think we like it, for them to be in elementary school. That's a good question. I would say kindergarten through sixth grade. That would definitely be the preferred age range, for, for kids on KidSmart.

So if you'd like to sign up, you can do so in the Classy 97 app, and then we'll get some kids recorded for KidSmart. Just tap that link in the Classy 97 app. I've already signed up your kid. Mhmm. Stay tuned, and we'll let you know when we're got some recording dates.

We'll have an email, going out here soon with all the details and the recording date and location and all that stuff. So, if you have not signed up though and you'd like to, sign your kids up. If you're listening right now and you're saying, hey. I wanna be a smart kid. Tell your parents.

Tap this yeah. KidSmart's link in the Classy 97 app. Now some football. Yes. Miles Garrett.

I like him. I know. Last month, he is an edge rusher for the Browns, by the way. Yes. He requested a trade from the team.

He said he wanted to, he wants to compete for and win a Super Bowl, and he does not feel like being a Cleveland Brown is gonna get his name. Not gonna get anywhere on the Browns. Well, over the weekend, he signed a four year contract extension, making him the highest paid non quarterback in NFL history Really? And giving him $122,800,000 guaranteed. The previous record for a non quarterback player was held by Max Crosby of the Raiders.

Max Crosby is crazy. He is crazy. He also was squawking about getting a trade. He also signed a massive deal last week to stay with the Raiders. So both those guys staying where they are, getting more money.

But if their bottom line was, I wanna win, it seems like maybe you just wanna get paid. Maybe you just wanted some money. Maybe. I don't know what that means. Also, the twenty twenty five NFL scouting combine wrapped up about a week ago, and the NFL Network, said that the ratings for this year's combine were the highest since 2017.

What's I don't know what that is. This is the four day event. It is known as, it's it's where all of the college, potential draft picks go and show off their skills. So they do So Ashton Janty was there? He was there, but he did not participate in the combine.

What? I know. Isn't that interesting? But that's that's why. I don't know.

I don't know why. But, yes, Jantee was there. But there's, there's, like, 5,100,000 people watch the combine, but they do quarterback, receiver, running back workouts. The NFL draft starts April 24, and I'm sure it's gonna be big watching it this year again. It'll probably be on at our place for sure.

It will be. It will be. We have interested parties. Yeah. I gotta figure out where everybody's gonna go.

I know. Right? Who are the new rookies? We'll find out. NFL draft is April 24.

So now that's all your pro football stuff. That's it. That's all you need. That's all you need. That's all I get for now.

That's fine. That'll do, pig. That'll do, pig. It has been a day filled with strange movie quotes from you. We've got a driver's ed kid in the house.

Well, that is true. And she has been taking the class, but she's also been itching to just get behind the wheel a little bit. Yeah. And she said, my friend's mom takes her to the parking lot and drives. This is true.

So we said, alright. Today is a pretty quiet day. Yesterday, we said today is pretty quiet. Let's go find a parking lot, and we can go put you behind the wheel. And she's been kind of at a standstill a little bit in her class.

It's a do it your own pace kinda thing, and she's kind of been like, I'm tired of reading. And so we thought, maybe if we take her out and get her some, like, practice, some hands on practice, it'll it'll kind of what do I wanna say? Get her moving again. Right? Get her motivated to to jump into the class.

Exactly. Okay. So we go to a parking lot. All four of us are there. Me, you, both kids.

And the dog. And the dog. That's right. The whole family went out for this event. Well, because Beck, he was not going to come with us.

We had some other errands to run. He wasn't gonna come with us. So I said, oh, we're gonna get Emery some practice behind the car. Oh, I wanna go to that, said. So we go to the parking lot.

I get out of the you were driving. Right? We get there. You were driving. You get out of the driver's seat.

I get out of the passenger seat. Beck says, who's gonna be in front? I said, dad. And Emery said, why? And Beck said, because mom's a nervous passenger.

You were nervous in the back seat. I was a little bit nervous. Yeah. Well and and scary when your kids drive. Get it.

And it's an empty parking lot, and there's literally nothing there. And, the finesse of a gas pedal and a brake is not there. The muscle memory doesn't exist. It's the first time she's ever done that kind of a thing. And so the brake was a little sticky, and there was a little bit of jumping happening, which was fun.

And, the back seat had some comments about it. Just the one. Uh-huh. And then Not for me. And then she did tried.

Tried to do some parking, into a spot, and that's when you went. That's the only comment I ever made, though. I was pretty quiet. What? I know my place.

I know that you have more patience. I know that you're more calm and collected and cool. I know that you're the better teacher. Beck had a lot to say. Yeah.

This is true. This is absolutely true. For someone who's only been driving four years, he had quite a lot to say. Settle down, kid. That's the only thing I said.

It just made me nervous. I didn't think she was gonna stop before she hit the Piedmont. She did great. Jesus. She she parked.

She drove around. She got behind the wheel for a minute, and I think she felt pretty powerful. So we'll see if that, has the desired outcome. I will say that we ended up going to run a couple more errands. When we got back, she had her book out again.

Did she? She was reading her book again. Go. That's the good stuff. I think she found a little bit of motivation behind that Well, that's driver's wheel.

What's it called? That's Steering wheel. Let's keep it called keep calling it a driver's wheel. That that works out. It's the driver's wheel.

I mean, it's not the passenger's wheel. That's for sure. Could you have used one yesterday? No. She was fine.

She did fine. I mean, I was trying to explain how everything's backwards in reverse, and there was a few different things. She'll she'll be great. She'll be great. You're a good teacher.

Well, I don't know about all that. That's why I got in the back seat because I am not. Let me just do it for you. That's what I would have said. Let me just do it for you.

Here. Get out. I'll drive. I'll park. I'll just do it.

You'll never get out. Not how you teach. I know. That's how you enable. I'm good at that.

Oh, sure. And you're also good at being that as we've discussed previously. At being an enabler? No. At being enabled.

No, Josh. Yeah. No. Chantel, what do you mean no? Yeah.

Don't. Over at EastIdahoNews.com, they have a section called ask the doctor. And did you look at this today? I have not. So I've got a new article.

It was posted this morning. It's how to help my family eat healthier. Oh, what are some tips? Because I know. Right?

Exactly. So it says before you even worry about what foods you put on your kids' plates, you should focus on creating a positive environment around food. Ideally, meals should be eat eaten sitting down together without the distraction of devices or the TV. From the time your children are infants, bring them to the table to enjoy meals, eating in front of a screen, or standing up between activities can often turn eating into a mindless activity and result in consuming more calories than you truly need. So that's that's just good healthy advice.

And then you wanna figure out what healthy foods you love and share those with your family. So this could be your favorite family recipe or a small sharing of your favorite fruit, which we did we did try, like, we wanna try something new from this aisle this time when we go to the grocery store. So we're gonna find some new fruit or we're gonna find some new Yeah. That was fun. Thing that, that we can all just try something new.

And that was kind of an interesting thing for a little while we did that. It says make healthier e make healthier eating easier for you and your family by only having foods in your house that, will help you make good choices. For example, if you don't want your kids eating a bunch of cookies, don't make Don't buy a bunch of cookies. A bunch of cookies happen in your house. Right?

Or else they're gonna eat cookies. Tell your children that they should not eat something, and then having it available can be confusing and potentially lead to unhealthy food behaviors later in life. There's a whole section about how to get your kids to try eating fruits and vegetables. And then, there's a whole bunch of different places you can go for fast healthy meals that you can make for your family, and they've got some good links in here, for that as well. So a good little article.

It's in the ask the doctor section at eastidahonews.com. If you wanna check it out, I think it's good. There's no eating dinner last week, and between me, who shoved all the meat to the side of my plate That's right. Emory, who shoved all of the noodles to the side of her plate, and Beck, who shoved all the vegetables to the side of his plate, we should have just shared one plate because we each would have I would have eaten the noodles and vegetables. Emery would have eaten the vegetables, and Beck would have eaten the meat.

That's exactly right. And then I will just have a whole plate of all of it. Just have everything. Because that's how it it should be eaten as with all the things. But okay.

There are certain things around our house that, my family does that whether you do it intentionally or not drives me crazy. One of these is emptying out a box of things and then leaving the empty box in the cupboard. Ah, yeah. No. I've seen that happen.

Or not replacing the toilet paper roll. Seen that happen. Or not replacing the butter in the butter dish. That's a big one. After it's been used.

This one happened this one has happened at least three times in the last couple of weeks. Really? Where I go to get butter, and I go, who didn't fill the butter dish? So then you have to get cold butter out. And try and spread it on toast.

It just doesn't work. Who uses who uses using all the butter in the butter dish? I don't know. It's not me. But every time I go to get butter, there's no butter in the butter dish.

And that drives me crazy. Because here's like, when I cook Fit to be if I if I don't use a full stick, but I have a little bit left over, let's say I have, you know, two to four tablespoons of butter left over if I've after I've cooked or whatever Yeah. I won't put that back in the fridge. That goes in the butter too. Yeah.

I've I've done that too. Small enough piece. So I'm constantly restocking the butter dish. Me too. So who's using all the butter in the butter dish?

I don't know. Because I'm pulling sticks out of the fridge when I'm cooking. I'm not using the butter dish Me too. For cooking. So who's not restacking the butter?

Who's using all the butter? I don't care who's using it all. I just wanna know if you're who's doing it. Who's not The person who's using all the butter is the person who's not putting more. Right.

So that's what I wanna know is who's using all the butter. I don't know. It's not you, and it's not me. There's only two other people in our house. Not me.

So it's one of the kids or the dog. Do you think the dog's getting up there and eating the butter? They sure don't. Yeah. I don't either.

So that leaves the kids. Two. Which one of these kids is the butter culprit? But I know that I have told them repeatedly, each of them, hey. When you've used the last of the butter, replace it with a new stick of butter.

Mhmm. They know what to do. Why don't they do it? Well, I know. Also say, hey.

If you've used the last item in the box and the box is empty Yeah. Throw the box away. But I don't I still don't know why they, they don't do that. Or change the toilet paper roll. Or Why don't they do that either?

Sometimes only half of taking out the garbage gets done where the garbage bag will get taken out, but a new one won't get put in. Yeah. And then you go to the garbage can, and you there's no bag in here. Try to go and throw away something? Can't.

Right. No bag. Oh, That kind of stuff makes me wanna light the whole house outside. Really? Wow.

Disco. That's that's a little extreme. No. It is. You're yeah.

It is. And then I come down. For a split second, I go, oh. Oh. And then I go, alright.

Relax. I've never heard that noise in our house, so I've only heard that here. Oh. Until, internally, I go. I see.

It sort of, feels like, like, your old faithful building up and where you're like, oh, it's gonna happen. Here it comes. Today's the day I'm gonna close. But it doesn't. Until one day it does.

Yeah. And then the caldera. That's what happens. Exactly. It's the big one.

It's the major explosion. Oh. Watch out for the lava. Just replace the butter. Just throw away the empty box.

Just refill the toilet paper roll. It's not hard. I wanted to say thank you for taking my car to get an oil change. Well, you're welcome. I don't like driving over that hole in the ground.

We had to move the cars around in order to leave. My truck was parked behind you, and so you backed out of the driveway. We moved my truck in, and then I went to go get in the passenger seat. But by the time I got out of my truck, you were already out and halfway around the car. And I said, you you can drive.

And you said, no. No. I'm good. No. I don't want to.

You gotta try it. I don't want to. Rush. Because you know, it's not. It's scary.

It's not a big deal. They guide you in. You just drive over the little left, and you're done. And guess what? There's people below.

There's people in that hole. If your car goes in that hole, how are you gonna get it out? Oh, I know it's not Your car's not gonna go in that hole. I just know bad things are gonna happen if I do it. No.

They're not. Yeah. You're gonna feel a bunch of adrenaline, and you're gonna go Yeah. I know. The whole time, and you're gonna be fine.

I needed to get my oil changed last week. It's been coming for a while, and I've put it off and put it off because I said, I gotta find a time when Josh can go with me and just do it because I can do I'm not gonna do it. I don't wanna do it. Plus, also, they ask you a million questions, and I go, I don't know. I don't know.

The answer to most of them is no. I know. You want that? No. Do you want that?

No. This air filter's pretty hefty. Do you need an air filter? How much does it cost here? No.

That's how it goes. Would would you like us to do that for you today? No. My favorite part is when we went last time I got an oil change, and you said, oh, they're gonna come in and tell you that you need an air filter. Mhmm.

I can do that. I can do that for you. This is true. Cheaper. And I haven't done it.

And then they come. This time, it goes, Let me ask how much it how much it is. How much is it here? And they're like, 3 times as much as you can buy it online or in store. And I went, nah.

Yeah. But you should've done it last time. I know, but I didn't. I got it on my list. Oh.

I gotta go buy one. List is too long. This list? Yeah. I know it is.

Look at it. I know. It's crazy. And you got stuff stapled to your list. Yeah.

Because stuff I don't wanna forget. Good grief. Good grief to you. This is the only way things get done. A list with stuff stapled to it.

Hey. Hey. Just change my air filter, would you? Yeah. So next time I go, they don't go, this air filter's pretty bad.

You'll go, yeah. I know. Yeah. I know. My husband won't take care of it.

But I could. I know you could. I know you can. Yeah. So do it.

Also, change the butter, the butter dish. I didn't the butter is not my fault. You were we were all hanging out last night, and you said, hey. Do you wanna go for a ride? And I said, yeah.

Like, the sun was kind of almost setting. The weather was still pretty nice. It was lovely. Yeah. Let's go for a drive.

So where are we gonna go? Oh, down by the lake to get some driftwood. Go down to the dam, I said. I gotta get down by the river to find some driftwood. And you said Oh, boy.

What what for? What do you need that for? And I said, well, it's gonna sound silly, but, I need it for my flies, for my fly tying, because I had, I don't know, what, five years ago or more, I built a, sort of a photography shadow box and, to to be able to take pictures of the flies, close-up Yeah. So that I could post them on social media or whatever. And, and so I I wanted to do more of that, but I wanted to find a way to display multiples of them that was kind of cool that wasn't just in this boring box.

And, somewhere I saw, maybe it was at the fly tying expo. I don't remember where I saw. Someone had, taken driftwood, and they just kinda stuck them into the driftwood. And I went, that's a cool way to do that. I need to go find some driftwood.

And so I'd finished a bunch of flies, and, I thought, man, I I wanna take some pictures of these ones, but I don't have that driftwood idea that I had in my head. I should go find some, and now the snow's kinda melted off. I can probably get down to the water and find some some good driftwood. And let me tell you You did. There was a lot of driftwood there.

You felt a lot. A lot. So, yeah, I just gathered a a nice little bundle of some cool looking ones. But I wandered around for, I don't know, ten, fifteen minutes or so looking for what I would call the perfect piece. I didn't find it, but I found I I found a lot.

I was just looking at your pictures. I'm like, some of these, you did find some really cool pieces of driftwood. Me on Instagram, you can see, some of the flies that I tied in some driftwood. I do like the first one that comes up, is really cool. That little ledge that it has on there is super cool for for, putting flies on this.

Probably my favorite piece because it also kinda looks like a rock. Yeah. It kinda looks cool. Which is kinda cool. I like that piece.

I found a piece. I said, hey. Do you like this piece of driftwood? You said, no. That's not.

It's kinda flat and boring. I thought it looked cool. It looked like a foot. Okay. I didn't need a wood that looks like a foot.

Everybody needs a piece of driftwood that looks like a foot. The the one that, I don't think I got a full wide picture of it. I did not. I was gonna say the one that I put the little purple and red ones on, has a different kinda look to it. And you can kinda see it in one of the photos.

It's got, like, the purple ones. You can kinda see how it's got that little squiggle on there. Mhmm. It's kind of a cool little piece, where the wood grain is in there. Anyway, yeah.

That was that was a trip that was taken. Let's go let's go find some driftwood. Wow. How many what? How many pieces did you end up getting?

I don't know. Five or six. Yeah. But what's cool is, is the way that the water is kind of, you know, washed up on them and stuff, or whatever, eroded away at it. They're like a whole bunch of just really flat on the bottom pieces that stand up like that, which I was like, that's cool.

There's just a ton of them. So, anyway, if you're looking for driftwood, it is out and about, and it's really easy to get to. If you need some good driftwood, it's it's there. There's a lot of it. A lot.

Didn't take it all. No. I only took little tiny pieces because they they hold little tiny flies. That was the other part. The piece you had, the foot one was real big.

Oh, sorry. It would've, like, filled up my whole photo box. I didn't I was trying to be helpful. It was also pretty wet. I picked it up, and I was like, well heavy, and it's you're like, leave it outside for a little while.

Dry out. And I'm like, that's so saturated. It's gonna take a month to dry out. So I I found some dry pieces I didn't have to deal with waiting for. I thought we were gonna take a romantic little sunset drive.

Nah. Let's go get it. You brought the daughter and the dog. Well, I know. After I found out we were going to get driftwood Oh, I see.

Then I went, cool. Let's bring the whole family because that's not romance done. Well, we also got the motorcycle out and took a ride on that yesterday, which was pretty good. So That was pretty good. It was a little chilly still, but, but it was nice.

Who cares? The sun was out. I didn't mind. And, and I took you around every roundabout that I could think of because I knew you'd love that. You're so good to me.

Because there there's only one thing in traffic that you love more than a roundabout, and that's a roundabout on a motorcycle. That was scary. It was a little bit terrifying. It wasn't terrifying at all. Not on a Sunday.

It was pretty on a Sunday. Anyway, that's, was that a romantic, thing? Yeah. Kinda. Okay.

Good good to know. We had a nephew that turned 18 on Friday, and his one wish was to go do a little bit of gambling. That's right. Because, that's what you can do on the Indian reservation when you're 18. For for him, it was a big deal.

And I think it has to do with the fact that, like, he has people in his life around him that have, that have done that, and they've had a lot of fun doing it. So I think he said, I wanna go try that. And I've never done it, so I went, well, might as well go and see what this is all about. Right? Yeah.

Enjoy some time with the with the fam and see what happens. And so, we we took the drive, went to the place, walked in, and went, oh, it's noisy. That's what it is. Overstimulated. There's a there's a lot going on here.

Sounds. There's a lot of lights. There's a lot of smells. Yeah. Well, okay.

So when you see casinos and stuff in movies, you you and maybe they have all gone to digital systems at this point, but there's usually all these, like, coin noises. And I was expecting to hear at least some of that, but it's just like walking into an arcade with 700 times the amount of machines all loud at once. Yes. Yeah. That's what it's like.

You lost your money pretty quick. Okay. Listen. You and I said we're we're gonna do, $20 each, and I didn't know what I was doing. No.

I sat down at a thing, and I pushed a button, and all of a sudden, I had no money. So that's about how that went. And then and then I just wandered around until we left. Yeah. Sweet.

No. Then I gave you my money. I had, like, $2 that I put it here. A different machine and pushed a button until all that money was gone, which didn't take long. And then we just walked around, and then we left.

Yeah. I said, no. I don't wanna be here. This is Yeah. Absolutely zero amounts of fun.

I didn't enjoy my time. I lost my money very quickly. And so, you know, from that aspect of things, I would not recommend. But that's just me. No.

I yeah. I I think there are way better ways to spend $40 in, in five minutes. Me too. Thank you. I I agree with you.

I I'm glad that we see eye to eye on this because I don't have an I don't have a desire to go back and do that again. No. I didn't, like, lose I'm glad I did it. Yeah. No.

It was fine. Yeah. And then I go, oh, never again. I'll never wanna do that again. I I just can't see.

Maybe bingo's better. Is that is that the old man? Yeah. Is that the grumpy old man talking? You're just waiting.

There's nothing you can't B 14. Yeah. Exactly. You have no, like, you have no control. It's all just a matter of circumstance.

Sure. It's luck. You gotta get the right card. The right numbers have to come out. Yeah.

I don't know. I I no. Thanks. Oh, 75. I would just rather spend my time doing something else.

That's all. Okay. That's fine. No no for me. A no for you.

It's a no for me. Okay. I won't be back. Alright. Sounds sounds good.

So we're headed there later on today. Is that what I heard you say? No. I didn't. I said that.

So we don't. I won't be back. Okay. But what about bingo? It was my one and only time there.

No. I don't think so. With the dauber? I'm good. And you'd stamp them out?

I'm so good. I can do that at home anytime I want. That's true. That is true. For free.

Hey. Would you look at the time? Hey. Would you look at that? It's not 08:37.

It's 09:37 because of the time change, and it's time for would you rather this or that. Hey. Hey. Would you rather wake up every morning to birds chirping That's okay. Or the soft sound of a bubbling brook?

If I'm camping, I get both. So Yeah. But you can only pick one. Well, they're both gonna be there when I go camping, so, I get both. Okay.

I guess you make up your own rules when it comes to would you rather. It's my answer. Camping. Both. Okay.

But if you're not camping, which one would you rather? Birds. I've also picked birds. I love birds. Unless hold up.

Unless it's a magpie. And then I go, get out of here, magpie. What are you doing? I don't like magpie noise. Have you ever heard them?

Yeah. They're loud and obnoxious. No. No magpies. Rest of birds, okay.

Rest of birds, okay? Yeah. Magpies, no? Magpies, no. The rest of birds are okay.

Why? Why are you doing this? Magpie noise? It's so loud. You don't want that?

No. Why not? Because it's loud. Is it? No.

That is not a peaceful, like, chittering of birds. That's like a, hey. I'm here. Wake up. Magpies.

Boo. Alright. Well, would you rather listen to that? Yes to everybody else. Okay.

All the other songbirds, not the magpies. Not the magpie. K. Sorry, magpie. Alright.

I'm gonna get all of it because I'm camping. Would you rather, this or that? Hey. Hey. What's up?

So just real quick, I wanna know, have you seen these hats with the text upside down? No. I wanna make one. But, I I wanted to learn about the trend a little bit before I made one. So it's just a regular hat like what I'm wearing here, and it would have, like, a word like Vikings, whatever, arched across the top, but it's upside down.

Okay. And I was I kept seeing, like, what is going on with that? Like, what why are all these hats with and and usually it's team names or the city that they're from. You know, like, the the Jazz have one that's Utah, and it's upside down. K.

I'm like, what is this? Yeah. What is this? This trend? And I like it better than the the rope hat with the with the rope across right here.

You know what I'm talking about? Nope. Look up, I don't keep up with hat trends Alright. I guess. So if you look at rope hats, you'll see what I'm saying.

Okay. It'll come up right right in there. If you look up the word rope hat, you'll see. It's a hat, and it's got a Okay. Silly little string Yeah.

Yeah. Yeah. Across there. I don't that's pointless to me. It's weird.

I I I guess it's a little pop of color or pattern or whatever. I haven't seen those. Those are those are all over the place. I'm not big on the rope hats. But now look at the upside down, logo hats, and you'll see what I'm saying.

And there's a bunch of these. Why? I don't know why, but I wanna make a custom one. I'm just trying to figure out what word to put on there. Yeah.

What are you gonna say? I don't know. Because I'm kind of intrigued by put why. Why? It's upside down.

Why? That's kinda funny. Well, so I did do a little bit of research. It started, from a company, and I don't know how you how you what what's this company's name? It's b r v n d, TrueBrand.

It's an upside down a, but they used a v, TrueBrand. I see. They're based in Dallas, Texas. Okay. And the company partnered with a backup quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys football team, on a hat that had the word Dallas spelled upside down.

They did this back in 2020 because the idea was COVID turned the world upside down. And so they said, this is our upside down hat. So they did it as kind of a a little funny. K. The backup quarterback then gave the hat to Dak Prescott, and he said, okay.

Here we go. And then, he began to wear the hat, popularizing it in Dallas, Texas. The style of the upside down city on a hat has now spread to other cities. Now that is kind of where it took off from. Okay.

I I did some research. It says it's to create a unique and eye catching aesthetic. Mhmm. Often intended to make people look twice and remember the logo more easily. You can't remember it if you can't read it.

Somebody said it's just the hats that they wear when they play in Australia. But I think it's an interesting thing. But, anyway, I wanna make one. I think it's, I think it's kinda cool. It's just different.

Oh, look. You can combine the two, that rope hat with the upside down. Look at it. You could do whatever you wanted. I don't like I don't think I like the rope hat.

I kinda I just don't understand the upside down thing. I don't get it. Like, there's I'm just looking at one. It's a San Diego Padres one with just the SD, but the d is back word and the Yeah. I don't makes no sense to me.

I don't get it. I don't get it. I don't know. I think it's kind of an interesting thing. It almost looks like a mistake Yeah.

Was made. But that's why it's eye catching, isn't it? Yeah. People go, what? I can't read it.

What that say? So I I think I'm gonna have to put one together. What is Vikings upside down? What do you mean? What is it upside down?

Still Vikings? Well, I know, but it'd be Because the Dallas One upside down looks like salad with two l's. Yeah. Is that what you're getting at? Yeah.

I see. It would be Yeah. Skinic. Yeah. Skinic.

It's not a word. Like a Scandinavian word. Is it? You gotta be careful, though. If you if you do something upside down, make sure it doesn't mean something offensive.

I guess. You gotta be careful. What word you pick, Josh? I mean You gotta be careful. What's weird is that you have to read it backwards and upside down, and then it's arched.

And so it's just it messes with your brain a little bit. You go, what am I reading backwards and upside down? It's Well it's strange. Anyway, I'm gonna make a custom one. Why?

Not that one. I'll make a different one. Y h w? Why? Why?

Question mark. Yeah. I don't know. I'm a I'm gonna figure out one. I'm gonna make one.

K. I just don't know what yet. Alrighty. But I think it's interesting. I'll patiently wait.

Okay. I already know where to go and everything. I can get this made, like, today if I want. It's gonna do it for the show. Cool.

Cool. Hope you have a solid rest of your day. Alright. Hang in there, everybody. The good news is the end of the day is also sooner.

So That's true. The morning arrived quicker, but the end of the day will also arrive quicker. So you'll make it through. It is the first day of daylight saving time. Hang in there, folks.

You'll do it. We'll do it together. And we'll be back tomorrow. Have a great day. We'll see you then.
