Full show transcript:

Hey. It's Josh and Chantel, and this is wake up classy 97, the podcast. It's a replay of today's full show in about an hour. It's Tuesday, February 4th. On today's show, it's avalanche season.

Yep. Get your backpack, your beacons, and your, poles and shovels. Safe. Yeah. Be careful out there.

Danger is still my middle name. It's not. It says danger is still not Chantel's middle name. Chantel Danger. But School playgrounds are working on changing that.

See, that's that's the rest of the sentence. I got it. I got it now. Okay. Yeah.

Skinny treats are back. Well, kinda. Maybe. Left in my house. I think it's, it's interesting that it's 2 old ladies on TikTok saying, skinny jeans are back.

We're hip. Field trips are wasted on kids. That's a fact. Where do you wanna go? Jelly bean factory?

Sure. Yes. Have you ever been to, like, Fars Candy? No. Or you haven't?

Mm-mm. Oh, I should see if I could arrange a a field trip for us to go check out where the candy's made. Field trip. Josh and Chantel Field trip. Mhmm.

My ASL flashcards. Which which sister was one of the hard ones you're working on. What's your ASL for sister? Oh, I gotta remember. Yeah.

Oh. Oh. Yeah. I haven't I haven't used them yet this morning. Like you were trying to put a toothpick in your chin.

No. I gotta practice all that. That's a hard one. Sister was one of your hardest ones. I saw that.

My mom doesn't know how to use Facebook. I think she does know. I think she does know, and it's, it's just a mystery. A birthday gift idea for Josh. Yeah.

It's a cowabunga one. Sure is. Today is homemade soup, Dave. We talked a lot about soup. Soup.

We talked a lot about soup. It's okay. You You can't ever talk enough about soup. We talked a lot about soup. You can't talk enough about soup.

It was a lot. You can already watch a bunch of the big game commercials. Mhmm. Yes. This is true.

Or wait till the big game. We both need a haircut real bad. But mostly my beard. But mostly Look at me. I had I had cream cheese for my bagel all over it.

It's just a mess. Disgusting. That's what I said. It's a mess. Hot dog chips are a no go.

They're they're a maybe. Just as plain as it's not in your airbag. That's right. Cook them at work. And Josh is trying to pay off debts by selling jerky.

We're, all over the place. Just search for wake up classy 97. Enjoy the show. Well, good morning. That's Alexander Graham Bell.

That's how he answers the telephone. Well Yeah. That was 1 No. That was his phone number. It was 1.

Good morning. Good morning. I just, was checking out eastidaho news.com, and No way. I found some information about an avalanche warning that has been issued Oh, bro. For the mountains near Island Park, West Yellowstone, and Cook City, Montana.

So this is, they've got a map up here of where the avalanche, warning is. It's all over the place, though. So if you're a big snow enthusiast, you play in the, in the snow, you go up snow machining I don't. You go sledding, not like the tobogganing, but, like, you know, on the on the bra braps On the big slice. Say.

On the bra braps because that's what they sound like. Braap braap braap. Braap braap braap. Yeah. Sure.

Be avalanche aware. Yeah. The avalanche danger is high in the backcountry due to significant amount of snow, wind, and rain in the mountains. The this warning comes from the Bridger Teton Avalanche Center. Recent heavy snow combined with strong southwest winds in higher elevations and rain in lower elevations creates widespread areas of unstable snow.

This warning is in effect for the mountains in Eastern Idaho, including the Snake River Range, the Elk Mountains, and big holes, Western Wyoming Mountains, including the Snake River, Salt River, Wyoming, as well as, Togepi and the Teton ranges, all part of the avalanche warning. And I know a lot of people like to go into those areas, especially Togepi. Yeah. And Togepi is a scary avalanche place. Guys, just stay out of the snow.

Well, I mean, like, if you're advice. If you're gonna go play in it, make sure you have beacons, make sure you have an avalanche bag, make sure you're prepared. I'd like this is this is really your life. It's scary. It is.

Because avalanches are terrifying. Yeah. The snow is like a wave of of not good things. Wave. Yeah.

It's like a wave of wave. It says, human triggered and natural avalanches large enough to bury people are likely to occur on most aspects and elevations in the backcountry. Rain and snow creates large wet avalanches in the valleys. And if there's anything I know about large wet avalanches, which is not a lot because I avoid it, but I've built a snowman out of that heavy wet snow. Yep.

That stuff's awful. It's heavy. And that's not good to have all of you. Yeah. You won't second.

You get disoriented. You don't know which way is up. It's a terrible, terrible thing. So make sure, that you are being very, very careful. There is a forecast map, that will show you more of, the information.

All of this is at eastidahonews.com. So, again, if you're planning to head to that area, check those maps, get those resources, check the weather forecast, and ride safely prepared. Yep. It's exactly right. Your avalanche bag and a beacon.

And the poles so you can get your friends out and all the stuff. Just be prepared. Carry shovels. Do like I do and just stay home. Or Play it safe.

Play it cautious. Play it cool. Or avoid those areas and go ride somewhere else where there is an avalanche danger. There's that. Play it safe.

Play it cautious. You don't even play it. Play it cool. Yeah. I do play I don't play that game, but I play other games that are I'm cool.

What's your middle name? Danger. No. It's not. No.

It's not. I want you to think for just a minute of yourself as a kid on the school playground. Alright. What were you doing? Oh, I was swinging as high as I could go and jumping off.

Yeah. That that we got yelled at for that. We got yelled at for that too. But then I also did monkey bars, and then I fell once. And because the monkey bars were held in place by a big concrete slab.

I got the wind knocked out of me. You didn't have, like, like, landscaping bark underneath you? Nope. We did. We had a lot of bark.

I played a lot of 500. Okay. The football catching game. Yes. That was a good time.

Merry-go-round? Merry-go-round? You have a go round. Yeah. Like a little what is it called?

Yeah. The little flat disc with the they we didn't have one at the school. They were at the park. Really? We had one at the school.

You spin it as fast as you could and see who hung on. Played a lot of a game we called buttball, which was a racquetball. It was like, our version of handball, I guess. But if you missed, then you had to go up on the wall, and everybody got to take a turn throwing the ball at you. We got in trouble for that game.

Metal slide? Every slide was metal. Yeah. That was painful. Every day was painful.

The Netherlands Oh, the country? The country say that, children's playgrounds are being made too safe. Yeah. Let's bring back hot slides. They want more risk taking play.

Yeah. And they think that they're seeing less and less kids playing outside because it's kids are bored. Boring. It's boring. Everything's it's like a rubber room.

Yeah. They can't there's no spaces that they can take risks. They are there's no problem solving to be had. So the Netherlands is saying, we're gonna we're gonna stop with these. We want we want access to them to climb, play with water and fire, sword fight with sticks, build with hammers, ropes, wrestle, fall.

Some parents sting. Some parents are saying, no. Rough playing could my baby. Rough playing could lead to bumps or cuts. No.

Not not bumps and cuts. Bumps and cuts. No. I got all kinds of sharps. I know.

Scrape knees and elbows is a rite of passage. And I'm I was pretty safe, and I still have lots of things. Danger's your middle name. It's sandwiched in between doesn't like and and avoids and I listen. I don't find danger.

Danger finds me. Oh, wow. How it happens. No. Yeah?

Danger doesn't find you. It does. No. Slippery ice finds you. Yeah.

Danger. Bad patches of air you stumble over find you. It's never my intention to be dangerous. It's not like I walk out the door like, danger. Incredibly mitigated risk.

But then on the walk to the car, I go, oh, no danger. No. No. Yes. That's how my life works.

Okay. I'm in agreeance with the Netherlands. Yeah. I think I think we need a little need a little adventure. We need to coordinate.

You gotta get out and experience things, and you gotta you gotta problem solve. You gotta have you know? Get rid of that soft bark. No. Keep the soft bark.

Look. You can mitigate injury Hey, listen. I'm not doing it. Fun. There you go.

When you hit and your body went And then I couldn't breathe, and then I sat on a we had a big rock right by the door. Yeah. And I sat on the rock going, I didn't come die. I didn't come. I didn't come dying.

And my friend said, relax. Getting the wind knocked out of you is no fun. No. It's awful. When all of your air comes out and you And then you never think you're gonna breathe again Yeah.

It's it's terrifying. I don't know the last time that's happened to me, and I hope I don't. No. I don't want that to happen to me again. No.

Let's take a cross country adventure Oh, let's. With Paul and Damien. K. I inadvertently pressed a button, and my, my recording got all wonky. So I've I've had to fix it.

Are we back in business? We're back in business. K. So I was I was gonna tell you the story about this cross country adventure with Paul and Damien. 8 years ago, Paul's life turned a little upside down when Damian went missing in Oklahoma City.

Now Damian is Paul's miniature pincher. Oh. A Min Pin. Despite the odds, Paul never gave up hoping to find Damien, but admitted that the search dwindled as the years went on. 8 years ago, this happened.

Well, last month, Paul learned some pretty shocking and wonderful news. He was driving a car full of clothes from Arizona to Southern California to help the victims of the Los Angeles area wildfires when he got a phone call. And Paul learned that his dog, Damian, had been found. Oh, Damian. Well, somehow, someway, Damien had survived in and around Oklahoma City for years.

A resident there named Ricky Chambers found the tiny dog walking alongside a road and took him in. And when Ricky took Damien to the vet, the micro chip was found, and Paul was located. And, Paul zipped back from the border of Arizona and Southern California as fast as he could to Oklahoma City and was reunited 14 hours later with Damien. A lot of things had to go right, but thanks to Ricky's kind heart and the care of Damien, the two best friends were reunited after 8 years apart. 8 years apart.

Isn't that crazy? Ricky said their connection and history were unmistakable even to an outsider. When Paul came in and sat down with Damian, he knew that he was the owner. Like, I'm sure Damian smelled him and then went nuts. Oh.

Which is awesome. Isn't that crazy? What a nice reunion that must have been. Moving from Oklahoma City to Arizona, dog gets lost. What a sad thing.

Happy now. Yeah. No kidding. Damian and Paul are reunited. Reunited.

So good. Yeah. Yeah. That's right. Good.

It's good news. We'll get you going. Well Hi. Hello. I've got big exciting news for you, and and I don't even know how to break it to you.

You've been trying, different pants, and some of the pants that you've been talked into, you don't necessarily enjoy. No. You have a couple of pairs where you're like, these pants look goofy. Thank you. Do you say every time you put them on?

Mark Twain pants. No. Not what you call them. Why do you call them Mark Twain pants? I've never heard you call them Mark Twain pants.

I just did a dance yesterday. That was a Huck Finn dance, not Mark Twain. Well well Mark Twain wrote Huck Finn. I get it. Saves these.

But you were like, I'm going on a raft, and I'm Huck Finn's buddy. I don't know what you were saying, and it was ridiculous. Because the pants, the style is to have a wider leg. Sure. And then they're kind of, you know, cut off at the bottom.

It's a loose cut. They're like frayed kind. So it looks very much like I'm going on a raft with my buddy, Huck. Yeah. Tom Sawyer.

More that was more of a Tom Sawyer. It's both. So Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer. It's it's both of them. Both of them.

Anyway Do you still own all of your skinny jeans? I yeah. Because All of that. Aside from Mark Twain pants, which I've never heard, you always put them on and say, I miss my skinny jeans. I just want my skinny jeans.

Bring them in my skinny jeans. That's what I hear. Is that true? I have some skinny jeans. Yes.

Are they coming back? Are they coming back? Skinny jeans are coming back. Yes. They they were not gone for very long, were they?

So there's this, this influencer, Alex Earl, more than 7,000,000 followers on TikTok alone, who sort of teamed up with this jeans brand called Frame, and they're making, her own line of skinny jeans called the Alex with an I. And a lot of people are like, no. The skinny jeans are awesome. And so You're heartless. They're saying this is such a 2025 thing.

Shark Tank's Barbara Cochran, she is enthusiastic about skinny jeans, and she's a fashion trendsetter. Hey. Me too. When Alex Earl says skinny jeans are back after what felt like a lifetime. It was, like, 6 months.

She says, thank you, Alex. I It could be early. I don't know. There's an e at the end. Earl with an e, early.

But, anyway, not everybody's thrilled about the idea of skinny jeans coming back, though. One person said the skinny jean isn't back because if it was really back, you guys wouldn't be putting boots on to hide the whole part that makes it the skinny jean. What? People say that because you put on the skinny jeans and then put boots on, you hide the fact that it's a skinny jean. The rest of it's normal, just a jean.

No. Emery told us that if you wear a skinny jean in high school, you'll get made fun of. Well, they're back according to According to one person. Alex Early slash Barbara Cockney. In my world, they never left because I just wore what I wanted to wear.

And then Yeah. When they were dirty when my skinny jeans were dirty, then I'd wear the trending cool pants, and then I'd say, Huck Finn. Yeah. Huck Finn. Huck Finn on the raft going on a rent down the Mississippi.

Huck Finn, that's your dance. It is. It was very much my dance. Yeah. I'm I'm just I'm excited for you.

It's a big deal. You're gonna have skinny jeans season. Yes. Yeah. You know how they say field trips are wasted?

I hear you say that a lot. I hear you I've heard other people say that. But I've specifically heard you go, like, I wish I could go on field trips as an adult. Yeah. I've heard that from you.

At at a in the middle of the day, if your boss said, hey. Everybody, we got a bus out front. We got a bus out front. We're going on a field trip. Head count.

Did I hope you brought your lunch. Did you bring your sack lunch? We're going on a field trip. And your jacket? Yep.

And your sunscreen and your sneakers. And do you have your buddy? It'd be sick, wouldn't it? Where would you wanna go on a on an adult field trip? Anywhere.

Where? I don't know. Anywhere. Where would you wanna go? I I just Probably, lots of different careers.

It'd be fun to just go look at what other people do. That would be cool. I'd be down for that. Go to a museum. I would also here's the thing.

Field trips are what I've heard is field trips are wasted on kids, Not wasted because they still like something. Oh, waste. But then I've also heard school is wasted on youth. And I would say that I kind of agree with that a little bit. I kind of when you're a kid, you don't appreciate school.

I think you're right. And the older I get, the more I learn about science and history and life, and I go, I should have paid more attention in school. Yeah. I wanna go back to school because I wanna learn about that some more. I see.

Well, now it's just called research. I know. Like, you can just do is fun. You can just do it, and you don't have to have, you know, a test. That's true.

Right? Like, you can just go talk to people that know about a thing and learn about it. That's true. I could absolutely do that. You you wanna learn about being a baker?

Go talk to a baker. Say, hey. Can I learn about what you do? Can I come take a filter? I wonder if you could just do that.

Maybe you could just go talk to somebody and say, hey. I am really curious about what it's like to to be a mailman. Can I follow you for an hour on your job as a mailman? It's kind of fascinating, actually. It would be fun to shadow to job shadow people and be like, this is what you do.

Yeah. They pay you to do this every day? Every day? Or, oh, you don't get paid enough Right. To do this.

I in high school, when we had dissections Ugh. I was never into that. Me neither. But you you worked at a school later on, and you loved it. Did like it.

You you loved dissections today. Fascinating. And I worked directly across from the science classroom. Yeah. The lab.

And the teacher would pop his head out and say, it's dissection time. And I'd be like, oh, it's dissection time. And and then you would take pictures and send them to your sister, which I love that. I'm all for that. Whatever that is, do more of that.

That's hilarious. It. Yeah. It's fascinating, though, and I'm sad that I didn't take more advantage of that when I was in high school. The cool thing to do was to not be Was it?

Interested. Ew. Frogs? Learning? Yeah.

I think I don't know the the we ever did frogs. I remember we did crayfish. We did a baby pig. No. I don't remember that day.

And a cow's eyeball. I think we did the eyeball thing. Did you? Yeah. Gross.

It was gross, but it's also fascinating. Yeah. I actually kinda like it. Yeah. The but the biology class, you had that, thing with the beetles where they can put in, like, a head, and they'll eat all the the soft tissue off of it, so you're left with just a skull.

What? No. We didn't do that. No. I I that was just in the biology room at at my school.

They just had that. The beetle bin. The beetle bin? Yeah. That's how they get the soft tissue off the skulls to make them all clean.

They put them in the beetle bin. I don't wanna be in there. No. No. Did you not know about the beetle bin?

No. I have not ever heard about the beetle bin. Can I look it up? I don't think that I want to. I think I've heard enough about the beetle bin.

I Have you? I've heard all I want to know. Yeah. Okay. But it's science, man.

Science. I think it's fascinating. Disgusting, but fascinating. I would even wanna look at the beetle pin. It's gross.

Oh, you would you would just watch the beetle pin all day? I kind of would. I know you would. Isn't it interesting? Yeah.

I guess. If you're into that. I wouldn't say I'm into it. I'm just curious about it. Yeah.

I'd be like, Look at those beetles go. Look at them go. Doing what beetles do. It's a special kind of beetle too. I can't remember what they're called.

I might look it up. I'll look it up. Alright. You look up the beetle bin. Okay.

It's, it's a gross thing. But what started this whole conversation was the field trips, and I agree with you. We need that as adults to go and job shadow and learn and and, you know, see how things work. Yeah. That would be cool.

Right? I do think that would be fast. Might learn an appreciation for other jobs too. Even think about, like, water treatment. Like, where does the water go?

Where does the water come from? Like, stuff like that, like, everyday stuff. That'd be huge just to know. Yeah. Yeah.

Yeah. I'm taking a sign language class, an ASL class. This is true. And, I'm learning vocabulary at a pretty ferocious rate. Are you?

Some of it I already know. Yeah. But there's a lot of stuff that I'm learning. Like, last night, I learned family terms. Oh, well So I learned sibling and brothers.

Like, oh, look what I learned today. Like, I know it. And so I'm just guessing because look. Like, most languages, like, Latin languages, like, if you if you really focus on, like, breaking it down, you can kinda sort of piece together, like, what might be being said. So I'm looking at the at the hand motion.

Well, I because now I'm doing sentences. I can make sentences. Right. Which is exciting. It is exciting.

And and you're you're, you know, signing these things, and I'm like, that's an eye. And and I'm, you know, whatever. And you're you're doing certain things, and and I'm trying to guess, and I'm no good. I'm no good. So, there's that.

But you said something about, like, this is my daughter. Like, you introduced Emery, which was which was cool. I live with my husband. Yeah. And this is my daughter.

Right. That's exciting. Big sentence. I know. Big sentence.

Yeah. And so a lot of the vocabulary I'm having a hard time there's just certain movements and positionings and hand placements that I'm not quite sure of. And so I'm like, I gotta make myself some flashcards so that I can just study. I've got a repetition and memorization Right. And practice.

And so I've been I was writing out some flashcards last night, and Beck comes walking in the room and he goes, what are you doing? I said, I'm doing my class. I'm studying. And he said, you're making flashcards? Yeah.

I said, yeah. How else am I gonna study? And he went and then he walked away. And I went, come at me for my flashcards. Well and Fuck judge.

Whenever you're learning a language, like, it helps to not not just that, like, what you're doing, but to label things, like, as as you move around the house Yeah. So that you know La Puerta is the door. Like, those are important things if you're learning Spanish. You gotta learn these things. Correct.

So I I'm not mad about your flashcards. I think that's a good thing you got going. I haven't learned objects yet, but once I do, then I think I probably will do that and put the You can't just point at it? Point at what? The door.

I could. I'm sure there's a word for it. I just have a stack of the flashcards, and then I'm gonna carry them with me. And then I see. When I have downtime, I'll be like, oh, let's get some practice done.

I see. Go through my cards and be like, what's the sign for? Do you have them paper clipped? I do. There's a part of me it's a small part, but there's a tiny little part of me that misses, doing, like, actual library research and filling out note cards.

Like, a weird part of me is, like, I enjoyed that process. You did? Yeah. I did. Like, just just thinking about 3 3 by fives, 3 and a half by fives, whatever Uh-huh.

Note cards and having to fill them out and write a presentation on your cards and Oh, no. Fumble through them. No? No. I don't miss that at all.

There was something about that. Yeah. There was something about it, wasn't there? Yeah. But I don't there was something about it.

There was. Are you digging through to find your cards? I found my cards. Okay. Let me see.

I can't see them. Right there. Look at that. And you do you have them binder clipped? Well, I do have them binder clipped.

And the ones that are faced this way Sure. Are the ones that I'm struggling with. Ah. So those are the ones I need extra practice on. I see.

You see? I do see. Well, good job. Thank you. I hope, I hope that helps.

It's a good process. It's tried and true as they say. And I gotta start practicing in the mirror because you have to make sure you got it in your signing space. You love that. Practicing in the mirror?

Just sitting in front of the mirror in general. Do. You just love that. Sure do. You I sure do.

Staring off at the mirror. Falling in love with myself. No. I don't ever see maybe this will help. No.

No. It's probably not. It's probably not. Well, one can hope. But I'm learning.

Yeah. If you know sign language and you see me on the street Signed to you? Yeah. Okay. So I can have a conversation.

Because that's my mission is to have a conversation. Feel nervous about that? Like Yes. If you were you do. Like, if you were learning, again, I'll just go back to Spanish for an example.

And you go to, like, a Mexican restaurant, and you wanna order. You wanna have a conversation because you know somebody there speak Spanish. You feel nervous about it because you're like, Yeah. Well, I did learn how to say I'm learning. Okay.

Good. So I can say to somebody, I'm learning. Yeah. Take it easy. Go slow.

Alright. I don't know the sign for go slow, but I can say probably, like, pump the brakes. Pump the brakes. Go slow. Slow down.

Slow down. Yeah. Well, good for you. Good luck. Keep working on it.

You're doing great. Good Thanks, John. Good job. It's hard. I know.

It's hard to teach this old dog new tricks. You're not an old dog. Thank you. You're welcome. Aw.

Can we talk about Oh. Social media No. And your mom? Well, first of all, today is Facebook's birthday. Happy birthday.

Turns 21 today. Some people don't know how to use Facebook. Does your mom make that list? Yes. And I will say, listen.

She she doesn't know that she knows how to use Facebook. She's posting stories. She's posting stories doesn't know how she's doing it. With music. That's what I'm saying.

She's adding stories with a photo and music. She's doing it right. She's doesn't know if she's doing it. Doing it, and she's not she's not doing it right in the way that she's not posting things that I think she wants to be posting. And and it's strange.

It is strange. Like a like a strange photo of your dad. And what was the song accompanying it? I can't remember. I don't remember.

Some strange song. Then when I told her that she had posted that, she said, I didn't do that. And I said, nobody else would have. It had to have been you. The the phone didn't do it itself.

And then she said, well, it went away. I deleted it. And I said, no. How did you delete it? And she said, well, I don't know, but it's gone.

No. And I said, well, that's because it leaves on its own accord after 24 hours. And she said, no. I deleted it. No.

No. You didn't. No. You didn't. But here's the fun part was that moments after you had that conversation, a new story was posted.

Story. It's like an adventure every single time I log on. Time. The picture that she posted is a I think it's Neil Young. Okay.

Why why is it I don't know. I don't know why she has a picture of Neil Young. I don't even think she knows who Neil Young is. She's not been a fan of his. And the song that she put with the photo is by Amanda Faith, and it's called you are my special angel.

So, look, she's on to something. She I don't know what she's getting at, but her stories are important. They're cryptic. They're important. I don't know what's strange for you.

Here is her special little angel. Neil Young? Do you think that's Neil Young? I don't know. I don't know.

I would buy into that. That's gotta be Neil Young. Right. Let me look at, let me see if I can find I don't know what, I don't know the point that she's trying to make. It is.

It is Neil Young. I know it. And he's wearing a a shirt that says earth on it. Oh, earth. Yeah.

But you can't see the rest of it, so it just says art. Right. That's how I found it. The shirt says earth. It is Neil Young.

How did she even get that photo? I don't know. Like I said, she's not a Neil Young fan. I don't think that she even knows who Neil Young is. In fact, when I texted my sister and said, mom posted this one, she said, yeah.

I don't even know who that is. And I said, well, I think it's Neil Young. It's Neil Young, and the song is You Are My Special Angel by Amanda Faith. So she really is into Neil Young. I don't think she is.

Well, how is she getting that? I know. She's gotta be. I think somebody needs to take Facebook away from my mom. I think maybe it's time for my mom and Facebook to have a divorce.

What will she do with her time if it's not posting Neil Young stories? Come on. I'm excited for the next one that's going up in a few hours. No. Because when this one comes down, a new one goes up.

Well, because the one before this Neil Young was a picture of my dad who had recently fallen and he had a bandage over his eye. I saw that. She posted that with the song. Wish I could remember what the song was because it certainly did not fit. No.

It was very strange. Like, it could have been a Chumbawamba song. Oh, I list. Knocked down. No.

No. But I get up again see, that would have been a joke. That would have been a great joke. It was my it's something about grandma. Remember?

No. Because I took a screenshot, and the song said something about grandma. Okay. A grandma is a special person or something. I don't know.

They didn't match the photo. No. My my mom needs to I need here's what I need to do. Yeah? I just need to get her phone one day Yeah.

Quietly uninstall Facebook. And then when she goes, I can't find Facebook, I'll say, oh Oh, they shut it down. Weird. I know. Banned it.

It was banned. No. I just say, I don't know. She has made comments before that I've had to hide because nobody knows what she's talking about. It's fun.

It's fun. My mom and Facebook. I think What a relationship. It's an adventure. I'm enjoying it.

It is absolutely an adventure. I'm excited for the next episode of the show because I just never know what No. I never know what to expect. It's gonna be a surprise every time. And I I'm ready for it.

Bring on the next surprise. Hey. You know, it's coming up in 18 days. What? I know.

Isn't that crazy? 18 days away. What is it? I'll be an older man. You are gonna be an old man.

An older man. The same age as me for a couple of months. For a few months. That's right. I'll be an older man for a few months, and then you'll be an older lady again.

That's just the way that works. That is the way time works, isn't it? But I've been looking around because I know the questions are gonna start coming up. Like, what do you even want? What do you even want, please?

Do you? I always have ideas. Yeah. But your tastes and hobbies change pretty frequently. I mean, you you have the same kinda hobbies, but then you'll have an idea for something, and then you'll say, oh, I don't want that anymore.

So your taste will change. Does that make sense? Yes. So sometimes I have ideas of what to get you, and then I'll be like, well, he doesn't want that anymore. Well, I just I just sent you an email of something I'm interested in.

I don't need more ideas. I know what to get you. I I really I saw this today, and I was influenced. And, you can save $10 on it. So that's cool.

I don't know I don't know much about them, but they're awesome. And, what it is are these Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sunglasses, that are very, very green. They are very green. You'll notice, in the upper right corner of the lens, they have etched a slice of pizza, which I think is very awesome. The lenses are polarized, which is fantastic, for fishing.

And, I just love them. So They are something. They're really super cool. You can get them and all nope. That's the Care Bears one.

They do. They do have other flavors, including Care Bears, Spongebob Squarepants, Batman, Elf, Star Trek, South Park, Hello Kitty, and others. I just think they're the greatest thing, though. You want the Ninja Turtle ones, do you? I really think they're cool.

I feel like, Inspired by the fearless antics. Yeah. You feel like what? I feel like, the fish would fear me a little bit more if I was wearing polarized Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle sunglasses when I was fishing. I don't think you want the fish to fear me you.

If they fear you, then they're gonna swim away from you. That's fair. You want them to not I want them to favor me. Exactly. I think they might favor me if I was wearing these cool Ninja Turtle sunglasses.

They are something, John. I think they're really cute. Are something. And I I feel like they, again, this is because of my $40. 80.

I know. But you can get $10 off. The little thing on the left wiggles and says get $10. Okay. What were you gonna say?

I don't even remember. I'm sorry. Something. I don't I don't even know. How did you come upon these?

Oh, that's how. Because of my nineties nostalgia influencing, algorithm that it knew I like the turtles. And so it said, hey. Maybe you want turtle sunglasses, and I do. And I do.

Influence. You've you've heard of tortoiseshell lens, frames? No. These are Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle frames, and they're pretty great. That's so good.

Who is your favorite Ninja Turtle? Donatello. You already knew that. I did know that. You already knew.

You already knew. Did I tell you I had a crush on a boy in high school, and I Called him Donatello. Yeah. So that I could talk to my friends about him without him knowing. Yeah.

Isn't that cute? It is. You like Donatello? I didn't know anything about Donatello, but that's the one I used for a nickname. I mean, Josh.

So listen. Fate. I know. Just just all of it. They also if you go this the there's another pair I like in here that are sold out.

So Ninja Turtles are awesome, but they do have a whole line of rainbow trout ones Oh. And brown trout and, their fish, that are great. They're really cool. I have to buy this case separate. Do you also want the case It comes with the little bag.

Oh, okay. You can add on a hard case. Wow, Josh. I know. Those are some green sunglasses.

Aren't they? But that looks like you. They actually I know. Look like something that you would wear. I know.

I saw them and immediately thought the same. I immediately said, yeah. That's the ticket. I need that in my life. Anyway, now you know.

I it's just a simple little birthday idea, little something, little little something something. I'll think about it. The link now. I do. I have lots of ideas for you.

So Oh, there's that get 15% off coupon. There's a get 15% off, and there's get $10 off. Yeah. The $10 off is a referral thing. 15% off when you subscribe to get emails, which you love.

You love it when you buy things and get emails. I'm getting emails for your Tacoma stuff because I buy a new present there. I'm getting emails for Subaru because I bought our sun presents there. Yeah. I don't own either one of those cars.

I don't care about those cars. I own a Volkswagen. But you don't get any Volkswagen y Toyota stuff. Well, too bad for you. I guess so.

Today. Today is Today? Today. Today. Today.

That's a weird word. Today? Today. Today. Today is a homemade soup day.

Oh, I love soup. I know you do. So I wanted to talk a little bit about soup. About soup. Because I have some soup rules.

And, I have no soup rules. You just think soup rules. Soup does rule. I'm sorry. Say what you will about soup.

It rules. Say what you will. Here's the thing, about soup. I'm all good with soup as a side to a main course No. Dinner meal No.

A starter to a main course dinner meal, or a fantastic lunch? Uh-uh. It's good anytime. Well, I don't know if I'd Breakfast soup? I don't know if I'd have soup for breakfast.

Biscuits and gravy is kind of breakfast soup on it's upside down. Gravy is a bit soupy. Yeah. It's true. It's fine.

If you wanna call biscuits and gravy soup Would you call chicken pot pie a soup? It's not that much different than biscuits and gravy is my point. Well, I mean, depending on how thick or I I don't know. I don't know. I guess pot pie is practically gravy.

It's kind of on that borderline. It's chicken and vegetable gravy over biscuits or under biscuits. It's so good. Now I'm gonna I'm gonna accompany my previous statement with a few caveats. Okay.

Chili's, chicken pot pies. So are you saying chili is not a soup? I'm saying if those fall in the soup category, those are hearty enough to be a meal. A lot of people say that it's not really if you can eat it with a spoon, it's a soup. You can eat anything with a spoon.

Well, you can, I guess? Pasta's a little tough. Cereal, I guess, would be a breakfast soup too. That is breakfast soup in a way. Is the ocean a soup?

Yes. It's a fish soup. What defines soup? Yeah. Yeah.

Define it. A liquid dish typically made by boiling meat, fish, or vegetables in stock or water. A substance or mixture perceived to resemble soup in appearance or consistency. Being soupy. Yeah.

Alright. What's your favorite kind of soup? I like lots of soup. I made a green pepper and corn chowder over the weekend. A good hearty dinner soup.

Delicious. I'm eating it again for lunch today. And was accompanied by other foods to make a meal. I would have been fine with just the soup as my meal. I would have felt like I needed some more.

Some Not me. I would have been just fine since you good soup. I could make in the fall and winter months, I can make soup every day. I know you'd be fine. I don't because could every day.

I could. There's so many different kinds of soups. I really like there's a there's a a Thai chicken one that I like. It's a very good soup. I like broccoli cheddar.

That's a good soup. Loaded baked potatoes, a good soup. These are all hearty soups. Potato not potato. Tomato soup, though, you don't think is hearty.

You need something else to go with your tomato sauce. Sandwich. Because it's not hearty at all. It's it's water. What about a stew?

Okay. Like a roast that then gets broken up into the stew. My question is, are you using a whole roast in the crock pot with all the stew ingredients, and then when it's done, you break it up? No. No.

No. Or are you using stew meat chunks? Meat chunks with potatoes, carrots, celery, and then Golly. I love stew. I do.

Did I know this about you? I just I was thinking about it, and I and I don't love it every day. But I think twice a year, looking forward to a good stew is a good thing. Stew in the winter, but I haven't made stew this year. Mhmm.

I didn't know you would love stew. Was thinking about, like, we would go to my grandma's house, which was just down the street, and she would make stew a couple times a year. That's a good meal. Stew is Stew is a good meal. With a nice piece of bread and butter, it doesn't have to be fancy.

You do that weird cold butter bread thing we've talked about. I can't deal with that. That's what I grew up with. We we were poached. You were not.

And I'm sure you had a toaster, and you did have an oven. We did. But I just I just toasted the bread. Soft. Just get a warm roll.

It melts the butter. It's just cold butter on cold bread. I don't mind it. Oh. It was good.

It's too much butter. I didn't no. It wasn't that much butter. I've seen you butter stuff. It's a it's a lot of butter.

It's rude. You're calling me out on the radio like this. I don't I don't care for it. I'm not I'm never gonna make you stew again. Oh.

You're never gonna have stew again. I might. If you make it. Okay. I'm having soup for lunch today on National Soup Day.

I'm excited about that. I'm excited for you. It's a big day. Soup is. Over on the classy 97 Facebook community, I did say today is homemade soup day.

Did you? And I said we wanna see your favorite soup recipe. There's some soups in this picture. It looks like there's a chicken pot pie in the bottom left corner. Really?

Yeah. The top one has a lot of vegetables in it, which looks nice. It looks like it's got carrots. It does look minestrone. The, top right one looks like a baked potato situation with some bacon in there, perhaps.

And the bottom right one, what do you think that one is? I can't. I don't know. Maybe a chicken tortilla, maybe. That's a good soup.

I haven't made that soup in a long time either. That's a good soup. Yeah. That looks like a chicken tortilla. Yeah.

For sure. So if you wanna share a soup recipe on homemade soup day, go ahead and do that in the classy 97 community. That's our Facebook group. You can share those recipes on that post or make your own post, talk about soup. It's soup day.

Soup day is my favorite day. I know. That's why I wanted to talk about soup with you. How about stew? You like stew?

By golly. You do. Oh, golly. By golly. Do you know that you don't even need to watch the Super Bowl?

Well, you don't want to, so there's that. To. Okay. You're just gonna have it on in the background of whatever you're doing. Yeah.

And then I want somebody else to be watching it and then say, oh, Saquon's doing something, and then I'll watch. I see. Because I do like Saquon. I see. He just got engaged.

Congratulations to Saquon. Saquon. That's the only time I'll be watching, and then I'll turn it off. K. But a lot of people would just watch to watch the commercials.

Right. But now the commercials are all releasing their Super Bowl ads before the Super Bowl. Normally do. But here's They have for the past, maybe, what, like, 5, 6 years? I'd I'd say that's true.

Maybe more. I would say it's probably been the last campaign. Anticipated it, and then they were like, nope. We're just gonna show you anyway. But here's people learn that that's that that's a thing.

And not everybody is gonna go online and watch them and and get, you know, commercial spoilers or whatever. A lot of people are still gonna get hyped and watch them in real time. And the other thing that will happen is people will put out a trailer for their Super Bowl ad. So they're gonna put out, like, a a little thing. It's gonna hint at it, and it said see the whole thing during the big game.

And then you go and then you watch I see. And then you see the whole spot when you're when you're watching it. A teaser. Correct. A teaser trailer.

So, like, a lot of people have been doing that. Like, Post Malone is in is in, one of them. Will Ferrell's in one. They also I mean, they spend a lot of money on these on these commercials to to make them, but then also to even run them during the game, it's super, super, super expensive. I do like that we usually get new movie trailers.

Yes. That's true. Which I you know, you don't typically get those until after, the game. So that's those ones are good. I really do like that.

There's a lot of people talking about, Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal reuniting for 1. Oh, I've seen that too. The Doritos ad campaigns are usually pretty funny. There's one with, it's for Haagen Dazs, and it has been Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, and Ludacris. Fast and Furious.

Too fast. Too furious. Too fast. I'm trying to see. I'm just kinda scrolling here.

I think there's gonna be some some probably some good funny ones. The Fantastic 4 trailer will be in there. Them or you can give them a really surprised. If I if I don't watch trailers for them or, you know, teasers, I think that's fine. I would rather are the is that for real?

They're doing a a live action Simpsons movie with Adam Sandler, and Courtney Cox, and I think that is, Dustin from Stranger Things. What's his name? I can't think off the top of my head. I know. Anyway, yeah, that looks like it's happening.

They're also doing a live action Incredibles with Kevin James. This can't be real. What? This is not real. Those are not real.

I was just looking. Yeah. That's all AI. Fake. Yeah.

Thank goodness. Well, I was just reading something earlier that said there was a Forrest Gump 2. And I went, is that real? Yeah. Because they make them so realistically that you think they're real.

No. That's No. Happy Gilmore 2 is a real thing, though. Yes. And I know that's coming to Netflix this year, so there's that.

But, anyway, yeah, you can watch the spoiler versions online right now or wait till Sunday. Or just don't watch this watch anything else on Sunday. Or that. Wouldn't it be hilarious if nobody watched the Super Bowl on Sunday, and then the NFL was like, oh, we goofed. Yeah.

Well, a lot of people I've seen a lot of the maps of people that say, like, you know, this this is who everybody's rooting for. Mhmm. And, like, there's like, everybody's, like, just going to the Kendrick concert. So I'll be watching that. Yeah.

There's a Kendrick concert with football around it. So I don't know. We'll see what happens. But at Sunday, that's Sunday. That's Sunday's problem.

Big whoop. Let me start by saying I do have an appointment. Okay. But, it needed to be a week or 2 ago. That's that's kinda where I'm at.

What? Alright. I have, a barber, named Nat. Yes. And, Nat is, is barbering, and I'm excited to, go and get my head shaved and my beard trimmed and, and looking and and feeling refreshed.

And I've got that appointment coming up in a couple of days. So I've but I've needed to get barbering done for several weeks, and I am feeling, not great about About yourself? The current state of my face. Yeah. I'm in that Hey.

Easy. You don't have to agree so hard. Saying I'm in that same boat for myself because I had an appointment for my hair months ago. Right. And I had to cancel.

Because you had a conflict. Yeah. And the only time I could get her in or get into her was mine's in 2 weeks. You still have a couple weeks. Yeah.

Yeah. But, see, here's the thing. Like, I'm fully capable of shaving my own head and shaving my beard, doing the stuff. Like, I have all the stuff. But I was like, I if I'm going to the barber, I'm not gonna go do it myself and then show up at the barber and be like, yeah.

So I this is just clean it up. No. Like, I wanna go and have the experience. So I've been lazy. I've been real lazy about it, and now I'm feeling, like, gross.

And I feel like I need to get to the barber days, maybe even a week or so ago. That's how I feel. Mine was supposed to be 2 months ago. How do you think I feel? You don't have a beard.

No. But look at all these grays, bro. I thought you know how I feel about it, so I don't even need to tell you. And I thought maybe I'd be able to embrace it, and I've tried to embrace it. I'm like, just let it go.

I can't. I just am not ready yet. I'm not ready to embrace the gray. And you have 2 weeks to go? Uh-huh.

Yeah. Well, we'll see where you get. I know. See how that embracing goes. I think it's great.

My hairdresser's gonna look at me and go, woah. We got a lot of work to do. I don't know how long it's gonna take. It could take hours. It will take hours.

It always takes hours. But it could take double hours. To chat and Well yeah. Life stories are shared. It's a whole thing.

What day of the week is your appointment? Wednesday. Alright. Why? I just didn't know if I was gonna have other plans, but it's a Wednesday, so I won't.

I don't it's during the day. It is? Yeah. Well, good for you. In the evening.

Good for you. And I actually think that I need to take a half a day off. Yeah. I think you're gonna have yeah. Because you're gonna be there forever.

Because I'm gonna be there for a while. Yeah. You should probably get on that. I know. But, anyway, I'm I'm excited to go get barbered, and I just, I I've got my appointment.

I'm just ready. It feels nice when you take care of yourself that way, doesn't it? Listen. If if you've never been to a barber, you're listening right now, and you've never you've been like, I it's I'm a bald guy, and I go to the barber because I get the straight razor on the head. It's so good.

And she does the warm towel. There's a head massage involved. I'm probably gonna do the nose wax thing. Nose wax. Because it's it's always fun, to to cry a little bit.

But it it's great. So, anyway, I just if you've never gone, like, it's an experience. You gotta go treat yourself. Like, I know You gotta get a pen and paper. Dressers.

They they've got, like, their routine. They've got their routine. They've got their person a lot of the time. And guys are like, no. I just do it myself.

It's easy. Like or I go spend $12, and I walk out, and I'm done. I'm happy with it. I put my hat on and move on with my life. Yeah.

Go treat yourself. Go famper yourself. There's something special about it. You were kind of hesitant about going. You were like, I can do it myself.

And I went, no. Go pamper yourself. I know. You gotta take care of yourself a little bit. Yeah.

Plus, I like my barber a lot. We get to we get to Yeah. You know, chatting, which is great, and, and it's good it's good stuff. So, if you if you if you've never gone, go find a barber. Go to a barber.

Go sit in a chair and and get yourself barbered. Get barbered. Get barbered, if that's a word. Go get barbered. Yeah.

You'll look better. You'll feel better. It's good for you. It is good for you. Plus, it's like a when you it's like a therapy session.

There's I mean, we don't get, like, deep into convo. Like, we we're pretty surface about it, but, you know, family, kids, stuff like that. I don't need to. I'm good. It's not I'm not there for that.

Yeah. But you could be. But I'm not. For now. Ease into it.

I mean, I've known my barber for years, which is, like, a long time. A long time. Easing time. Trying to think. Probably 6 years probably?

Really? Guess. Yeah. That sounds about right. 20 2018, 2019.

Yeah. That sounds about right. Get Anyway therapy. I don't need the therapy. I'm gonna go get myself pampered.

That's that's great. Both is what I'm saying. Yeah. I don't need to. I'm alright.

Look. I'm I'm trying to encourage people to go get barbered and feel good. I don't have to get all emotional about it. The big game is coming up. We've talked about this.

Yeah. If you're looking for a food idea, something to take, let me introduce you to let me tell you some of the ingredients. Cooking spray. You're dipping Hold on. Hold on.

Hold on. This is something you can make? Yeah. Okay. Alright.

So there's cooking spray involved? Your dipping sauce of choice. Okay. And jumbo hot dogs. What?

Now here's what you do. You freeze the hot dogs for about 2 and a half hours or overnight until they're completely solid. Then you're gonna preheat your air fryer, then you're gonna use a vegetable peeler, and you're gonna shave the frozen hot dogs into thin slices. You're gonna place your shaved hot dog slices in the air fryer basket and lightly mist them with cooking spray. You're gonna air fry the hot dog slices for about 5 minutes or until they're crispy.

Shake the basket halfway through. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauces. This is hot dog chips. Take a peek. Look it.

Okay. Alright. Hold on. You were quiet for a really long time. What were you thinking about?

I was really trying to keep my stomach in one spot. But now that I look at it, honestly, not that bad. It looks like bacon. It looks like bacon. I don't know if it's gonna taste like bacon.

Let me tell you something else I appreciate about this video you're showing me. What? What's their favorite dipping sauce? It looks like barbecue. Mustard.

No. It's only mustard. They have 1 cup of yellow mustard, and that's very I appreciate that. I appreciate that. There's no ketchup in sight.

The the hot dog looks brown, though. The hot dog slice looks brown. Is that just because of the The cooking spray, it air fried. It crisped it up. Now I'm also gonna say that's that's not a frozen hot dog.

Okay. That's fair. It certainly cuts not like you would expect a hot dog to cut. Like, he's using a potato peeler to cut that. Dude, I don't think so.

I the grossest part is when he takes all the slices and throws them in the air fryer basket. It does look gross. It looks like a pile of Band Aids. Yes. It looks like he threw a pile of Band Aids into the air fryer, and then out came bacon.

I knew you would come up with the right visual representation of that. Yeah. You're good at that. He took a handful of Band Aids and then took bacon out. Now I don't know if that's what's actually gonna happen.

Do you wanna try it? No. Here's the deal. What? I kinda wanna eat it, but I don't wanna cook it in our air fryer.

Why? Because grooves. Because it's gonna well, we had that removable basket. I'm not worried about what it's gonna do to the basket. I'm worried about the smell of hot frying hot dog in the house.

Yeah. I'm not excited about that. Well, we don't have to make it at all. That's true. I just thought it looked interesting.

I like it better than pigs in a blanket. Yeah. I like it better than Anything is better than pigs in a blanket. I'm trying to decide if I like it better than little Smokies in general, and I don't know that I do. I like little Smokies in barbecue sauce.

Do not. No. The more I look at it, the more I go, no thanks. No. Thank you.

It looks I mean, they've made it look appetizing, but I just It looks like bacon. The way it crisps up, it looks good. They have also made you can slice carrots and make carrot bacon. Yeah. You've tried that.

I haven't tried it. I want to. I feel like we've tried it. I haven't tried it. I feel like we tried it.

No. We haven't. Did we try it? Nope. I feel like we tried it.

Maybe you tried that with your other wife. No. I don't have another wife. I'm I'm sure I tried it with you. I didn't try it.

Yeah. For sure. Because we saw that, like, 4 or 5 years ago. Yeah. I know.

But we've never tried it. If so, like that. That's where we saw it. Yes. I know.

That's where it was. Name? Tabitha. Yeah. Tabitha Brown.

And we Tabitha Brown showed us the carrot bacon. That was the very first video we saw from her. Yeah. And I know we've tried it. We haven't.

Why did I buy liquid smoke? I don't know. Maybe for that? No. Yeah.

Something else. No way. I swear to you, we haven't tried it. I'm pretty sure we have. We haven't tried it.

I think we tried it. I think we tried to have this recipe for carrot bacon. Kay, you have. I have it. I feel like I've eaten it.

Oh my gosh. Hey. Hey. Would you rather this or that? This.

Would you rather have your laugh sound exactly like a foghorn? Yeah. Exactly. You got it. K.

Or uncontrollably shoot confetti out of your nose every time you sneeze. That one. Hey. It'd be like a party every time you sneeze. But I don't sneeze that often.

And when I do, it's, like, 6 sneezes or so. And so it'd be a mess. It would be a giant mess. But at least it's only confetti. It would.

Be worse. But a confetti is is it coming out of your nose? That's what you said. Because that's gross. Yeah.

It's coming out of your nose. Yeah. So it's gross confetti. Yeah. You're shooting snot confetti.

No. I am not. I'm just having confetti. You didn't say anything about the rest. You just said confetti, and it will be uncontrollable.

It'll be a party. Everybody will be like, here comes a sneeze from the party guy. They'll be all excited, and then I'll, and it'll be poo, and streamers will fall. And then what a mess. It's gonna be great.

You're going to clean it up every time. The wind will take care of it. Not if you're inside. Yeah. I will only sneeze at other people's houses.

Okay. Because you're so good at controlling when you sneeze. Right. If you're in the car I'm not doing the foghorn laugh. Is that gonna be?

No. I'm not doing that either. Like, that's terrible. Everyone will hate you. Right.

They'll be like, don't ever make him laugh. Exactly. I don't need that. Living in sad little joy this world. I'm taking all the joy and fun of confetti sneezes because that just makes a lot more sense.

I'm going with that one too. Because that one just sounds fun. Doesn't it? Yes. And I like fun.

Yeah. It's true. I'm all about the fun. That could be your middle name. That's nice.

That's a nice compliment. It's not danger as we've firmly established. Fun is my middle name. Danger finds me. I don't find the danger.

No. The danger finds you. Tripping hazards find you. That's it. Would you rather this or that?

Oh, this is me. Well, it's it's kind of you. It's kinda me. And and I and when you say, oh, this is me, that's how I kinda forgot what we were talking about, and then I had to look. I see.

So, behind me is, bags of jerky. And I wanted to know, is it is it an appropriate use of company email to send everyone an email and say, hey. I'm doing a fundraiser, and I have this for sale. I did, but I pondered it before I hit send for a while, and I went, is that the right thing? Should I walk around and tell people instead?

Or should I just reach everybody at once? I think you should reach everybody at once. Because if you walk around, then people have to say no to your face, and nobody's gonna wanna say no. Gonna ignore and trash the email. Yeah.

I see. If they're not interested. Right? No one is no one has said a word. Well, I guess that's not true.

Justin next door said, jerky, And I said, yeah. It's good stuff. And then he said, do you have any samples? Which then I went, yeah. I could do samples, but then I'm gonna have to buy bags myself, which I just wanna buy and eat.

And you just you have 4 bags of turkey. So you're gonna have to do $48 worth of Yeah. Purchasing just to be able to sample some. This is all part of paying off our daughter's scout account. That's true.

There are debts to be paid, and, she's not working on anything. So I said, I guess I'll do it. I will be the one to fundraise your, outstanding balance. Hate fundraising. I hate Well, I do too.

So But but I feel like there's there are several things. Like, if I was doing, like, a value card thing or I was doing something like that, I hate those. But I hate all of it. I hate all of it. But, also, when you have younger kids, like elementary school kids, it feels like you're getting a fundraiser a day.

I yes. It does. Then they you go, dude, I've already hit up everyone I know. I don't want your cookies. I don't want your wrapping paper.

I don't like your cookies. I don't want your pizza making cake. Yeah. I don't want your bags. On and on and on.

Any of it. And I understand just give you money. Right. That's what I wanna do. I don't want any of what you're selling.

Right. Because I'll buy the card. I'm gonna forget about it. I'm never gonna look at it. And how many times?

A dozen? I have one right now in my purse. Every time we go somewhere, I go, oh, I had a card for this. I forgot I had it. I didn't know you had one.

Yep. Well, good for you. When did you buy that? Early in the year. Oh, it's September?

February. I get it. That's late last year. That's not early in the year. Here's what I hate the most.

These fundraisers say Yeah. Hey. They put all the pressure on these kids to sell this, and they're like, if you sell the most, you're gonna get this cool price. Right. And then the kids are like, I'm sold the most.

Hopes and dreams. I know. We're not we're not gonna sell the most because You're not gonna earn a Nintendo Switch. I'm not gonna ask my coworkers. Right.

I'm not gonna ask my family members. I'm not gonna do any of it. So I I feel like I feel that weird energy when I'm like, hey. Listen. I'm doing this thing.

Yeah. It's a fundraiser, but I have it in hand. Right? This isn't like fill out an order form. There you go.

You know what I mean? This is hey. If you're if you're snacking on some jerky, I got it right here. You can come get some. You got some.

I've got it here with me. And it's good jerky too. Real tasty stuff. Gross stuff. But I'm with you on the fundraising thing.

It's a difficult thing to be in that position where you're like, I wanna help my my kid. I wanna help my my kid's school or my kid's classroom Or sports. Or whatever it is. Yeah. Sport.

But you're like, dude, I've tapped into everybody that I know Yep. 4 times already this month. I can't go back to grandma and go, hey. Hey. We got Little Billy is now selling tortoises, and you go, I guess I'm buying one of those.

Like, you just it's it's horrible. It is horrible. There has to be a better way. But, also, I I've got this if you're interested in buying some. I got I got it here.

So if you need some, Chantel, you know where to get it. I do know where to get it. What if we just paid off the Scout account instead of not fundraising? We can do it. I know we can.

I just I thought this might be a good way to help. And so I said, I took these on consignment. Oh. So I have to bring money back. Or the jerky back.

Correct. Or the other. Correct. My brother did a jerky sale once for band when we were in high school. I didn't realize that you had to I thought he just bought a lot.

Much did you eat? I ate a lot. And then my and then when he was counting and tallying, my mom was like, you ate how much jerky? I was like, they were like the Slim Jims. You know?

How many did you eat? I don't know. 5? At least. Yeah.

At least. I was little. I didn't know how it worked. Oh, man. Alright.
