Full show transcript:

You wanna know how geeky I am? I kinda already know. How geeky am I? What is one of the geekiest things you know about me? One of the geekiest things about you.

Or one of the one of my hobbies that's kinda geeky? Magic. Magic? Like, I don't play the card game, Magic the Gathering, youth because I enjoy magic tricks Yeah. Illusions.

Right. I when's the last time you saw me do an illusion? I haven't, actually. I just know that you used to do that in your younger days. So it was it was kinda geeky.

Fair. Yeah. I was a kid fascinated with magic, and I put on a show for my family and friends. So Alright. I know.

Magic show. That's not geeky. And I don't even know if it was that great, but I did tuck in my button up shirt to my cutoff shorts. Magic. And I wore a top hat like a magician.

One of one of the things I think that I do that's kinda geeky is, is follow fish and game activity. Oh. And I haven't really talked about this one much, but I I got notification about statewide trout stocking that's happening in July. Yeah. Yeah.

So kind of a big deal, because a bunch of Idaho's lakes and ponds are going to be, what they are saying, bolstered with Idaho fish and game stocking over 100 bolstered. I know. With over 100 puffily. No. I heard you.

Over 150,000 catchable sized rainbow trout this month. They're dropping all over the state. So I was pretty excited, and I was reading the report on where they were dropping, where they're putting all these fish. Because when they start dropping fish, that's when you can go fishing, and these fish are gonna be, like, hungry. You know?

Okay. Yeah. So you wanna get out there is what you're saying? I want to fish every minute of every day. I know you do.

The fact that I've only been out a couple of times, and I've had some okay success this year so far. You've been, been pretty successful. It's been a little bit yeah. I got invited to go It's been bolstered. Yes.

It has. I got invited to go fishing. A coworker said, hey. I'm planning this trip, and you're more than welcome to come with if you want, but also, can you tell me where you were catching those fish? And listen, I he's he shared some fishing spots with me, so I feel it's fair for me to say, hey.

Yeah. Here's a couple of spots I like on this particular river, and, good luck. Go go catch some fish. Tight lines, my guy. And, so we'll see.

But Very good. There is a stretch of of some water Montana that he showed me that he's going going to go and fish again, and I really want to, I really wanna go fish that. So Well, go get it. Okay. Go get that fish.

Shall we start the show? Let's do it. Alright. Hey. Oh.

Oh, hi. So it's, it's kinda sort of, the Friday show even though it's on a Thursday. And even though there's a lot going on tomorrow, it isn't like you get to sleep in, you know, or I mean, a little bit. But, you know, July 4, there's a lot going on. We're I'm gonna be incredibly busy today and tomorrow.

What are you, banging around over there? I thought it was the firework at first. No. It's just a book falling. Oh, a book.

Yeah. Is there a shelf of them? Is it one you brought in? No. There's back on your shelf.

Weird. It's just it's fine. Okay. It's not weird. I just I didn't know I had a, like, a book collection back there.

I do. Oh, okay. I've moved in. Is that right? Yeah.

Oh, okay. So, anyway, it's, it's gonna be busy today. It's gonna be busy tonight. It's gonna be busy to go like, real busy tomorrow. Right.

And then I think Saturday, when when we wake up after a long Friday night, Saturday will be like Sleep in. Or something. I don't know. What do you think? I don't know.

Like, what should we do? No. I just do you feel like that's when we get to exhale and go, okay. Now it's the weekend. You for sure.

You are much more busy than I am. Yeah. You have a lot more on your plate than I do. I guess Yes. I'll be there, but I'm kind of the I'm kind of the tag along.

Not even. Kinda. I'm a put you in charge of some stuff. I don't like to be in charge of stuff. Why not?

Oh, I, my life is my choices are as little responsibility as possible. Let's change that. No. Yes. I like to just float.

Let's teach you some buttons. No. Yes. Yeah. We can get you real heavily involved in, in all the stuff.

I think I'm already heavily involved. That's what you think. Yes. How's about you push the big button? No.

Why? The big button that starts the music to synchronize with the fireworks? That's right. No. That's too much pressure, and I'll freak myself out all day, and I won't be able to relax.

And then I'll just stress stress stress. My blood pressure will be high. What if all my fingers break? Somebody's gotta do it. All your fingers aren't gonna break.

You could use your toe. Are you not using my toes, my nose. You have plenty of good fingers. I do, for sure. You got this, bud.

You got this, bud. And that's what I'm gonna say right as you get ready to push the button. You got this, bud. You could do it. Well, hey.

It's eat your beans day. Oh, of course. I that's a fun transition. Yeah. It is.

Eat some beans. What kind of beans? It does recommend you plan accordingly. What's that mean? Is that because they're a musical fruit?

What, bean is your favorite bean? Oh, human. Human bean. I like black beans myself. I like a bean dip.

Seven layer. Yeah. Seven layer bean. Dip. It's pretty yummy.

I like, I like refried. I like black beans. Kidney beans? No. I don't know.

Soybeans? Huge on chili. I've never had just a soybean. So I like, Yes. You do.

Because edamame is soybean. Miss it? Yeah. Yeah. So, yes, you have.

They're pretty okay. They're crunchy. I like them that way. Never had a wet soybean. What?

Never had a wet soybean? No. That's it wasn't a question. I said, I've never had a wet soybean. Eat your beans.

Don't tell me what to do. It's eat your beans day. I'm supposed to. You're in silly mood today, Joshua. Well, we'll see we'll see how long that sticks around.

Yeah. Good morning. Good morning. He's back. Who's that?

Joey Chestnut. Oh, you. Just tomorrow's the big day. The Nathan's, hot dog eating contest, will be happening tomorrow. This will be Joey Chestnut attempting his seventeenth hot dogging tie hot dog eating title.

Here What? I'm just It's ten minutes. Ten minutes of what? The contest. Okay.

And it is Joey's best ten minutes of performance, I tell you. Here's what happens. What happens? We have a sheet Yes. Where we write down things that we talk about.

That's right. And it's usually me that fills in the sheet. That's right. And, occasionally, you'll put in something. Uh-huh.

And I get excited because then I go, oh, I don't have to come up with something to talk about. That's right. I like to be surprised by what you are gonna bring up. Mhmm. More oftentimes than not, I go, this is not should've picked something better.

But Some may say it's the Super Bowl, the Kentucky Derby, the Olympics, modern and classical, as well as WrestleMania all rolled into one, the Nathan's famous hot dog eating contest on America's birthday. What a way to celebrate. What a way. What's the world record? I think it's 76.

What? I think his record is 76 hot dogs in ten minutes. In ten minutes? Yeah. That's gross.

Buns. I'm not watching. Have you seen the pictures of him? No. I like the freeze frames.

Ugh. They're pretty great. You have to dip the buns in the water. Yeah. Last year's, women's division champion is Miki Sudo, and she, is is the champ on the on the women's bracket.

So you could you could cheer cheer for her if you want. Time out. Wasn't there a Joey Chestnut, Kishiyami? What was his name? Yes.

So, last year, Joey Chestnut was not, because of contract dispute, was not allowed to participate Right. In the Nathan's Famous hot dog eating competition, because he had a contract with, like, Hebrew National or something. So he's doing a different hot dog thing, and Nathan's was like, no, dude. This is just a Nathan's only thing. And so or maybe it was, like, a non meat hot dog.

Maybe he's doing, like, a plant based one. Is that his name? I think that's right. So the two of them did a Labor Day thing, and I didn't watch it because I forgot about it. And because also boring.

Not I don't know. It's action packed. I don't. Okay. But it but this is a big deal.

I mean, this is, the pantheon of competition, they're calling it. Oh, are they? Yes. Who's calling it that? They they They are.

You wanna see the festivities in person? No. It takes place on, where? Do we know? Is it in Atlantic City?

Where does it happen? I don't know, Josh. Hold on. How do I get there? The contest takes place near the iconic Nathan's Famous location on Coney Island.

That's where it is. There you go. Yeah. So you just gotta go to Coney Island. K.

Watch Joey try not to choke, I guess. So gross. No. Thank you. Have you seen the competition ever?

No. I mean, I've seen, like, a brief Yeah. View of it, and that was enough for me. I mean, that guy, I don't know how his like, he he can expand his throat. His neck gets, like, a foot wide Ew.

And he can just shove food in it. It's wild. Us go I don't wanna watch that. I don't care to see that. And, there's, like, a pile of hot dogs in buns.

He takes the hot dogs out of the bun, and he's just eating the hot dogs, chomp chomp chomp, and then soaking the buns in water by the fistful and then just slurping down wet, soft out bun. So gross. Yeah. So gross. It is.

I don't I'm not watching it. No. Thank you. Alright. Well, it's happening July 4, and Joey Chestnut's back.

K. And I knew you'd be excited. So I am so excited. You're welcome for the news. Good news to get you going.

This is about Dora Rubio, a single mother of five who has worked for fifteen years at the YCC Family Crisis Center in Ogden, Utah. Things got a bit bumpy for her busy life recently. Her old car's transmission gave out Aw. And she was left without reliable charity groups, called God's Garage, they heard about Dora's struggles, and working with another group, the America First Credit Union Charitable Foundation, they were able to get enough donation money put together to surprise her with the keys to a 2017 Toyota Corolla. Nice.

Yeah. She's back in action. Dora had Back, baby. Yeah. Dora had no idea this gift was in the works.

She said, I just didn't know. I just don't know what to think. I don't know what was going on. It was total surprise for sure. Thanks to the community rallying to help and thanks to the efforts of these two charitable groups in the area, she now has a reliable ride, to keep doing what she does best, which is caring for her family and giving back to the community through her work at the Family Crisis Center.

So, congratulations, Dora. That's awesome. That's really awesome. Yeah. And well done to, you know, a couple of good groups getting together to make that special thing happen.

You like that kind of stuff. Yeah. It's like that stuff. Nice. And right from our neighboring Ogden, Utah.

Ogden? Yeah. Oh. Bravo. That's good news to get you going.

The Hollywood Walk Of Fame. You know that place. Yeah. I've never been there. Oh, I have.

Okay. Good for you. We spent a lot of time when I went there, we spent a lot of time looking at Julio Iglesias's star. Why? Because my my Why that one?

Like, not Judy Garland. Not, like, like anybody who was, like, super popular in, February. No. You got stuck on Julio Iglesias. Julio Iglesias.

If you need to know is Enrique Iglesias's dad. Okay. What still, why? Because my friend's dad, who was not on the trip with us, is a huge fan of Julio Iglesias. And so we had to take we had to take a bunch of pictures for her dad of Julio Iglesias's star on the Walk Of Fame.

How many pictures did you take? Oh, I don't know. But but why? Took, like, a serious one. And then we You took pictures with it?

Yeah. Like, laying on the sidewalk? Like, what? Yeah. I mean, pointing.

Right? And then we took a bunch of silly ones like Again, it's not a picture with Hello. Julio. I know. It is a picture of Julio's star on the walk of fame.

Her dad was excited. So that was the one thing she was gonna do. It was here's the other part. I don't know. It's outside of Mann's Chinese theater.

I think it takes up a lot of stuff now. Yeah. And it goes down, like, the the road. Like, when I was there twenty years ago, it was, like, on passing streets. So I don't know where they're finding room for more of these stars.

They announced 35 that would be getting stars in 2026. There are, as of as of right now, 2,816 stars on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame. Really? Yeah. That many.

Yeah. Well, if they add 35 every year, then, of course, that's gonna add up really quickly. 35 this year. And the Walk Of Fame is 1.3 miles long now. Okay.

Interesting. Oh, along Hollywood Boulevard, it is now almost, point four miles along Vine Street. I was gonna say it doesn't go over the corner. Like, there's an east and west, and then there's a north and South Road. So 1.3 miles along Hollywood Boulevard and almost half a mile along Vine Street.

How do you find the one that you're looking for? How did we find Julio Iglesias? I don't remember, but we did. Gordon Lightfoot has one. Well, here's this year's.

Oh, okay. Let's see. Who's going in? This year, you got your Christina Ricciaga on that. Yeah.

Big day. It was a it was awesome. Boogey. Gordon Ramsay is getting one. Okay.

Sarah Michelle Gellar is getting one. K. Demi Moore. K. Emily Blunt.

Cool. Timothy Chalamet. Oh. Molly Ringwald. Cool.

Rachel McAdams, Stanley Tucci, Miley Cyrus, Josh Groban, Air Supply. The band? Bone Thugs in Harmony? No way. Are they gonna put them at the corner?

They should. At the crossroads. You know? You get it. Please put them at the crossroads.

Please. Please. Whoever makes decisions about this, put them at the crossroads. Okay. Lyle Lovett is also getting one.

Shaq. Oh, Sheila Nia. Okay. And Gabriel Iglesias. Is that the one you're gonna go take pictures with?

No. Gabriel Iglesias is fluffy. No. No relation to Julio or Enrique. I mean, maybe.

I don't know that for sure. I think so. I think they're all spelled differently. But, anyway, that's just wanted to know if that was the one you were gonna go take pictures with. I took other pictures.

Pointing. Video. Woah. Okay. Did you get to see the reaction when the photos were shared?

Because here's the thing that I think happened. I think you spent all that time. I think either the camera was lost, the film was never developed, or the pictures were never delivered to the person who you guys spent all that time taking them for. That's what actually happened. It doesn't matter though, does it, Josh?

Because we had fun we had fun. We had a great time Good times. Taking a bunch of pictures. With Julio Iglesias' star. Yeah.

Is that the only one you took pictures with? No. I'm trying to remember who else we took a picture of. I have one somewhere of just me next to a star, but I don't remember who was on the star. Sandler?

I that's what I wanna say, but I don't know if that's true. I don't remember. I'll have to find those pictures. Alright. The the developing is very bad because the cameras were very bad back in the day.

Yeah. Well So Julio Star, I thought I saw was awarded, in '85. Yeah. So it's been there for a minute. Yeah.

We saw it. Well, there's a lot to do today to get ready for tomorrow, but tomorrow is the big day. Tomorrow is the big day. It's gonna be a lot of fun. Tomorrow is the big day.

Yes. That is what I said. It is the Idaho Falls Community Hospital Riverfest presented by Idaho Central Credit Union, tagging Go Car Wash and Riverbend Media Group. Snake River Landing in Idaho Falls, that's the place to be on July 4. It is the place to be.

Yeah. If you're not there, what are you doing? It's like 11AM, noon. Swing on by. You can spend the day there.

You can, get all day passes to the Stones Kia Kids Zone for just $10. You can test drive the new Can Am from Rev Motorsports. Those are gonna be a blast. They'll be in the off road demonstration area. Mountain View Hospital is taking care of the misting station this year, so you can walk through and cool off if you need to.

Yes. Plus, food trucks and vendors from all over East Idaho will be there. So you're gonna have plenty to eat and lots to see. I know. I can't wait.

Gonna be very fun. I can't wait to eat some delicious food from the food trucks. Let's see. Yep. Yep.

This is this is going good. It is. It's going pretty good. We do wanna encourage you to bring and drink lots of water. Stay hydrated.

Wear sunblock, so you don't get sunburn. Don't bring your pets. Not a good idea. There's a lot of people, a lot of noise, a lot of chaos. No motorized vehicles either.

That means rental scooters. That means personal scooters. Keep that stuff, away from the area. And ear protection for the kiddos during the fireworks if, if you're gonna be right there at Snake River Landing. It's pretty loud.

So that may be something to consider. And then, of course, as the sun sets 10:00, the thirty second annual Melaleuca Freedom Celebration, the largest fireworks display on this side of the Mississippi. Oh, yeah, baby. And it's, it's pretty huge. And synchronized music right here on Classy ninety seven.

So if you're gonna be listening, we encourage you to listen to a traditional radio. The app has a bit of a buffer delay. So if you're trying to listen on the app, you're not gonna have the full synchronization effect. If you'd like to listen on a traditional radio, do that. Whether that's the car or a boom box or whatever, that's, that's what we recommend.

If you're going to be at Snake River Landing, there's a PA system that covers the area. So you're not gonna have to worry about, if you're in the in the vicinity. But if you're outside of the, of the area watching, listen on a traditional radio, and, we'll be there. It's gonna be a blast. It's gonna be amazing.

So much fun. A blast. Yeah? Yeah? That's right.

Thirty second annual Melaleuca Freedom Celebration coming your way tomorrow as we wrap up Riverfest. It's gonna be awesome. Woo hoo. See you there. You finally did the thing.

What did I do? You finally put in the air conditioning. Well, I did last night. You're right. And then, they were on eco mode, and so they didn't even run all night, which not that I wanted to run the whole night, but what was the point?

Because the room was nice and cool when we went to bed, but it was it just got hotter and hotter and hotter throughout the night. But I didn't like, I wasn't that sweaty all night. Same. No. I was.

It was very uncomfortable. Really? Oh, it's awful. I it could be way colder in there. I I didn't mind.

I was actually pretty comfortable. Yeah. I I I was not. But when I woke up because we have two we don't our house sold. We don't have air conditioning, so we have two just window Yeah.

Air conditioning units. We put one in our dining room and our kitchen and then one in our bedroom. Correct. Sorry, kids. Well, they're on, the other side of the house.

So they they're a little different, but they also like, they're on the shady side is what I'm saying. So they have that going for them, where we're not. And so we get just blasted by the heat and the windows and everything. And so, anyway, it's, it was supposed to be nice. It'll be nice tonight because I'm gonna I'm fixing the eco mode thing.

But Well, the one in the kitchen was turned off all night. So when I walked out of the bedroom and walked into the rest of the house, I went. Yeah. That's that eco mode thing. Yeah.

And and I, you know, I get the concept. The concept is that you're, one, not using as much power. You're not using the air conditioning when people aren't in the rooms. Like, I get it. Right.

But overall comfort is is completely mitigated with the eco mode. Plus, it's set on, like, a timer, and I don't remember I've gotta connect them to Wi Fi, and then I gotta get in the app, and I gotta change all that, because their schedule is probably wonky because they weren't plugged in, and I haven't reset it yet. So I gotta do all that stuff to get them to function right. But, but it was nice to, at least for a minute, have some cool air in the house, instead of just hot 83 degree house. Hardly being able to breathe.

Yeah. Yeah. When I when I finished the install, it was 82, almost 83 degrees in the house. Oh. And then when we went to bed, I don't know what the bedroom was, but the hallway was down a few degrees.

It was it was, below 80. But when I walked out this morning and looked at it, it was back at 80. And I went, so, yeah, it's, I got I got some tweaking to do. But they're in. They're installed.

We can finally cool off a little bit. Thank you. It's nice. Lancome. I mean, we got them out over the weekend, and I should have taken care of it then, but I had, like, 16 little mini projects to work through.

And I'm and I finally was like, I'm just gonna prioritize this one and put them in, so I threw them in last night. Well, I heard you. I heard you doing some install work, and I went, I think I think that's air conditioning. I think he's and then I I came out of whatever I was doing, and I looked around and I went, he really did it. He really did it.

I like how you walked up and were like, what can I help with? Just I got it. It's fine. I always do that. Pull this cord, I guess, if you want.

I always come in right when the project is just about finished. Yeah. What can I do to help? Yeah. Oh, do you need help?

No. Clearly. It's not intentional. I do wanna try to help. Okay.

Was Are you saying I'm not helpful? No. That's not what I'm saying. I'm just saying that you said you want to help. I do wanna help.

You don't think I wanna help? No. No. I don't. You jerk.

I'm the bad guy. I do wanna help. Okay. They sat there for a couple days. I can't do it alone.

You could you could start, and then I would go in. Start? Well, grab the drill. Start. Take out the two screws.

Actually For the base. Act Pop the screens out. Put the base on with the screws. If I had grabbed the drill Yeah. That's that's when you would do it.

Because if I if you start to see me, like, doing a project, you're like, move. I'll just do it. It'd be interesting to see, if I didn't do that. If I just sat back and went, Okay. See where this goes.

Guess what, Josh? I did stuff without you before I met you all the time. I know. I could do it. Okay.

I could set my mind to it and do it. I know. I don't think you mean that. I don't think you mean that at all. I'm just saying I'd like to see it.

I wanna see a follow through of a project. That's what I like, I'll just sit back. No. I'm not saying you don't finish projects. Settle down.

I'm saying I wanna I wanna see something like that, like the air conditioning install, where I go like, alright. I'll be back here. That way, I could be, like, three quarters of the way through. I'll go, do you need help? Can I help?

But you gotta get to three quarters of the way through the project. Fine. Fine. I will. I can't believe it.

Let let's pick one. We're fighting. Hanging the Christmas lights. Okay. I don't even know the first step, but I can figure it out.

Okay. If I have enough confidence That's right. And willingness to try Yes. And the support team I support you. No.

You do not. Sure. I do. It doesn't sound like you're very supportive at all. The ladder, we will support you.

I'll hold it. How's it going up there? You have to get on the roof. Yeah. Fine.

Fine. Okay. Okay. Settle down. Give me a project.

I'll do it. I'm trying to think of some other ones. Think of one that we can do right now. Mow the lawn. Okay.

Great. I've done I've mowed the lawn before. When? Before. Our house?

Yes. When? It's a The house we've lived in for thirteen years? Yes. When?

I've never seen that once. When? Before. Before you before you left home? Nay, it was in June.

No. No. It wasn't. It was a June. It was a June.

June 12. Mm-mm. Yep. No? 02/2012.

I don't think so. That would be a couple of months after we bought the house. Alright. Maybe I haven't lawn mowed, but I have weed eat it. Yeah.

A little bit. I've weed ate. But then you hated it because it made your hands feel weird. Yeah. It shakes too much.

I don't like it. You haven't used the new one? No. I haven't. How long have you had the new one?

Over a year. Okay. So it's not that old. Fine. I'll do some weed eating today.

I'm gonna weedate. Okay. I know you can. You're you're you got the confidence. I'm supporting you.

You got the willingness to try. Let's get that weed eater out. Okay. And then we'll start the lawnmower. Okay.

Maybe. You think you can do it? Yes. I know you've tried and been frustrated. Yeah.

Why does it have to be so hard? See? There we go. I was just thinking about all of the different cities that we've seen fireworks, specifically East Idaho, that we've seen fireworks. Not always East Idaho either.

Yeah. Because we've go ahead. We saw some in Stanley. I like the one in Stanley. I was telling that that story yesterday because, it was one guy up on top of a hill running back and forth from the more mortar lighting fuses.

And so there were big gaps in between every single firework, and it was it was awesome. It was awesome. Well, here's what here's the deal. You get spoiled with the Melaleuca Freedom Celebration is what happens. Yes.

And then when you go see any other show, you go like, yeah. It's okay, but I've seen bigger. Like Well, I grew up in Burley. Yeah. So we watched there was a golf course on the river Uh-huh.

And they light the fireworks off in little island in front of the golf course Yeah. On the river. They they light them off of that island out there on the river. Mhmm. Is that for real?

Yeah. For for a lot of years, in Idaho Falls, they lit the fireworks off of Keefer's Island, and then they moved it to the boat ramp by the Shiloh. Uh-huh. And then, and then they moved it to, where it is now, Snake River Landing, quite a few years ago. So, the launching from an island in the Snake River was has been a thing that's been happening for a long time.

Yeah. That's what Burley always did. Now Burley never did it with, like, synchronized to music or anything, and it was over in, maybe ten minutes. Okay. So you had to hurry and get down there and get your spot so that you didn't miss the show.

I remember watching it Yeah. Yeah. Back of you in the back of a truck with you. Yep. Because you just pull over and Yeah.

And watch it. We went to visit some friends when they lived in Twin Falls once, and so we saw the fireworks show in Twin Falls. I don't remember that one. It was it wasn't it wasn't memorable. Where was it?

Oh, I don't know where they lit them off from, but we drove to a our friend didn't know where to go to see them. The best view. Remember Meridian, but I don't remember Twin Falls. No. I don't it wasn't in Meridian.

It was in Twin. And Pocatello. We've seen them at Pocatello. Yeah. Pocatello does a great show.

Yeah. Because you can lay you can lay on the ground, and when they launch, you can feel it in your chest, which is pretty cool. And you get that same kind of thing at Snake River Landing, in a different kind of way. It's, you know, getting hit by shrapnel is fun. We've seen them in Driggs.

The Driggs shows were pretty good. Yeah. And Yeah. Those were pretty good. Lava?

We've seen them in Lava. I like what Lava does because they do it up on the hill. They've got a name for it, and I can't remember what they call it. Something of fire or something like that. And when they when they do it, at least the when we saw it, they have, like, raining sparkles down a cliff.

Yeah. And, yeah, that was really cool. That was really cool. Cliff is on fire, but it's just fireworks. Yeah.

Very cool. That was very cool. Look at us here. I know. I was trying to think who if if we've seen others.

I know that Manan is a pretty big hotspot. A lot of people like to go to Manan, but I can't remember if we've ever I don't know that I've ever seen during the day, but I don't know if we saw the fireworks. Yeah. Had a buddy making food. I had to go I had to go eat beignets, and they were good.

They were good. Yeah. All over the place. So and and I think, honestly, like, watching it in Stanley is probably the one that stands out the most because I went, hold on. Wait for him to go.

There's there's more there's more coming. Hold on. And then it boom. You'd see boom. And you go, cool.

Hold on. He's gotta run back. Here he goes. Away. You're like, yes.

And you're not, like, close at all. Like, we were on, like, a another mountain away, and it was fantastic. Cool because we were in the mountains. Yes. I'll never get mad.

However big, however small, I'll never get I'll never get mad about being outside and watching a fireworks. I know. Right? Cannot complain. Thirty second annual Melaleuca Freedom Celebration is coming up tomorrow, 10:00, Snake River Landing, if you wanna be close and watch it in person.

If you plan on being outside of the direct area, but you wanna still get the synchronized music, listen to Classy ninety seven. We recommend traditional radio, so you don't have that buffer delay that the app gets. And if you want the real synchronization, listen on the car radio or listen on a boom box and, you'll get that, that in sync experience, which will be a lot of fun. And, that is tomorrow night. All the details at freedomcelebration.com if you wanna, you know, find out more.

Yeah. Go come. Come to see it. It's gonna be a blast. Tomorrow is absolutely a time to celebrate, but it can also be very, very difficult for our veterans.

So PTSD is real, and so we're just asking you to please be mindful when you're lighting off your fireworks this Independence Day, and check-in on your friends and family that have served our great country. And, also, call if you need help. There is a Idaho suicide hotline, 208398 There is a veteran's crisis line, +1 80273 And p s PTSD Foundation of America is +1 877717 PTSD. It's it's even, I know we have the 988 number, available as well. It's something to to definitely remember.

There's a lot of things that can, trigger p PTSD, and we just wanna make sure that we're being mindful. And if you know somebody who, does indeed have it, talk to them. Find out how they're doing. Make sure they know they've got, people around that are there to help and listen. That's a it's a big deal.

We talked a lot, about pets as well. We talked, earlier this week. We had Michelle from the Snake River Animal Shelter in the studio. If you didn't get to hear that interview, check that out on the podcast. It's from Monday's show, and you can get some great tips, on how to make sure your pets are well taken care of on the fourth.

I know we're trying to make our own preparations for Luna to be comfortable. She's a little bit scared. She's getting a little bit better, I noticed. I don't know if it's just because she's getting, like, okay, they're gonna happen. And they aren't all scaring her unless they're, like, big loud close ones.

But, anyway, just be mindful of, of people and pets as we roll into the fourth of July tomorrow. And, you know, fireworks been going off for the past week or so anyway, and they'll continue to go off well after the fourth. Just be mindful, be respectful, and check-in on your people. That's really the big deal. So and if you do need help, there is help available.

Those are great resources. You can find those online, as well. But, 988 is the is the number you can call or text. There is a special, veterans crisis line in there when you call that or text it, and it's really easy to get help. So please get help.

Reach out if you need it, and let's have a very happy fourth of July. What is your favorite fourth of July song? What's the song that plays on fourth of July that you're like, yeah. Man. I feel I know you love that Neil Diamond America.

Man. I know you love Neil Diamond America. If I don't hear that on the July 4, I get very, very sad. Yeah. That is my go to Diamond to America.

Today. Yeah. Yeah. And that's my favorite. That's a strong one.

I know it is. And and I grew up with Neil Diamond around a lot. My my mom's a big Neil Diamond fan. And so Neil Diamond was, was around a lot at Christmas time and not Christmas time and crackling rose and you know, there's a lot of Neil Diamond happening. I love it.

Yeah. So I think I'd have to agree with you on on that one. That one's a a pretty strong one, for bringing back some fourth of July nostalgia. When I first hear that opening Mhmm. Oh, man.

I go, oh. Yeah. It's America now, baby. Yeah. I've been working a lot on the, July 4 playlist for the station that's gonna take over, tomorrow and decided this year I'd extend it to Saturday as well.

So Oh. Friday and Saturday, it's all fourth of July on Classy ninety seven because, you know, let's have a we got it's Friday. Fourth of July is on a Friday. Why not just extend it into Saturday as well? So it's a it's a July 4 weekend, Friday and Saturday, on Classy ninety seven.

So if you, if you're looking for it, it's all here. And I'm just looking, just to give you kind of an idea, a little bit of a we got some Cool and the Gang celebration, which is strong. Thank you. That one's good in there. Celine Dion, God Bless America is in there.

We kick off every hour. Mhmm. We we kick off every hour with a national anthem. I added in Dolly Parton's national anthem this year. So we've got, you know, a new one in there in the mix, which is pretty good.

We got, obviously, the bosses in there, born in The USA. That's a strong one. Let's see. What else What's your you didn't say what your I said that one right there brings back the good nostalgia for me. That's a that's a really strong pick.

The one I picked? Mhmm. The Neil Diamond? Neil Diamond. Yeah.

Same season? I think so. I really dig on that song. That song is is super good. And I know that's in our playlist as well.

I was trying to look for it really quick, but I know it's in there. We've just It better be. Full of, summer songs and fourth of July stuff, and we've got that all the fireworks sound effects you could ever stand. We got a ton of that in there. And it's gonna be fun.

So all fourth of July, Friday, tomorrow, and Saturday. Just tons of fourth of July. Did you put James Brown in there? Living in America. I feel like that's in there.

I'm sure that's in there. I'm I'm pretty sure that's in there. James Brown impression. It's pretty good. It sounds like you're touching something hot.

Well, that's kind of that's kind of what he does. Oh. Too hot. Yeah. Alright.

Kids in America is in there too. Where are the kids in America? Just That one's dark. Everything that said America. No.

Okay. No. I I mean, there's there's, like, Beach Boys in there. Oh, yeah. You love the Beach Boys.

I do. I love the Beach Boys. Aww. R I p e, Bryce. I know.

Right? Yeah. So there's a lot of summer fun stuff and lots of fourth of July stuff all weekend long. It's gonna be a blast. Make sure tune in when you're having your You know?

Slip and slide party and your barbecue. That's right. Just turn it on and leave it on. While you're waiting for the parade to start That's right. All of it.

You're living in there. Midnight tonight. So just turn it on and leave it on. You got, like, forty eight hours of nonstop fourth of July. Get that patriotic feel.

Also, I posted on the Facebook page. Oh, yeah. Tell us what your favorite, patriotic song is. There you go. Fourth of July song.

Points if you say Neil Diamond. Is that right? Yeah. Miracle. It's the best one.

Today. You've been doing an awful lot of talking about the hot dog eating contest. Twice. I talked about it twice. That's a July 4 tradition.

It's a lot. Twice? Yeah. No one ever talks about a watermelon speed a watermelon seed spitting contest. Is that a thing?

That is say that three times fast. Watermelon seed spitting contest. Watermelon seed spitting contest. Watermelon seed spitting contest. Well, well done.

Well, thanks. Watermelon seeds bidding contest. That was faster. That was faster. Why are you so good?

Pizza. You're good at it. Okay. Your turn. No.

Watermelon seeds bidding contest. Way to go. It's not that bad. It's not that tough. Okay.

How come no one ever talks about that or does that? Is that a it's not a thing? It's gotta be a thing. I feel like it was a thing. I don't like, spit.

So there's that. But okay. Well, you're not You're just spitting out the seed. It's not spit. What do you think is wrapped around it?

Yeah. But you're just gonna go it's dry. Watermelon seed spitting contests are fun, often competitive, popular at festivals and summer gatherings. K. Participants select a seed, often choosing a larger heavier one.

Oh. They may moisten their mouth with water or watermelon to aid in spitting, and participants position the seed on their tongue. Some suggest the taco shape of the tongue and use lung power to expel it forward. Interesting. Mhmm.

I wouldn't The distance the seed traveled is measured, the longest spit wins. Hey. Do you wanna have a watermelon seed spitting contest with me? Mhmm. Just the two of us?

Yeah. Who else would we have a contest with? Anybody that wants to try. Raise your hand if you wanna have a watermelon seed spitting contest with us. I don't like the spit part.

I know you don't. Okay. So these things happen. There is one in Georgia, the watermelon spitting contest at the Georgia, something something. There is a watermelon seed, spitting contest popular at the Indianapolis Fair.

The watermelon seed spitting contest results are in. Mike s and Travis s who both launched a seed they tied 21 feet three inches. 21 feet is so far. I think I gotta see if there's a world record because, of course, there is. If there's not, Josh The world record is 75 feet No.

Two inches. Yeah. No way. Yeah. How big is the seed?

Was it a big seed or a small seed? I don't know. It was set in 1995. And nobody has beat it since then? Jason Shayotte Shayotte in De Leon, Texas.

Okay. Set in 1995. Yeah. I feel like that's something we could break. A thirty year record.

Do you wanna break that thirty year old record? 75 feet? I don't know if I have it in me. Well, how's your lung capacity? Well, that's fine.

Okay. I'm not worried about lung capacity. I'm not gonna like, you gotta have the force, like, to really launch that thing. That was some force right there. I think you can do this.

75. I think this could be your world record. Here's the there's this, video tutorial, on YouTube of how to spit watermelon seeds. Okay. Farthest distance to spit 75 feet two inches.

I bet you That's incredible. Bet you could do this, Josh. Do you wanna do some prep work? Let's practice this weekend. See how far you get.

75 feet? Yeah. Man. That's a bit I'm gonna put it in the calendar. We're gonna go get a watermelon.

We need to get a watermelon anyway because you think you can crush one with your thighs. Yeah. And then we'll I can. Why do you think that's so hard? Just don't think it's that hard.

It only takes, like, eight pounds of pressure. It's not that difficult. We're gonna need two watermelons. Because you don't want thigh melon? No.

I wanna do it too. Oh, I see. We're gonna get a watermelon, two watermelon. We're gonna crush them with our thighs. We're gonna pick out the seeds.

We're also gonna do it. It's like 240 to 360 pounds of force to crush a watermelon. Eight pounds. Yeah. I mean, so It can be achieved by squeezing the watermelon between your legs or by a powerful punch or kick?

Punch. Punch. I wanna see you punch the watermelon. No. You think you could punch all the way through?

No. No. I bet you could. I could wear it on my arm like a like a bracelet. Victory.

You think you could punch your way through a watermelon? I absolutely do not. I bet if you could visualize, if you could really visualize yourself punching all the way through a watermelon, I bet I could punch through a watermelon. You really do. I do.

I think I could punch through a watermelon. I disagree, bud. You don't think I could punch a watermelon in half? In you said all the way through. I I bet I well, it'll probably break in half.

But I'm I'm telling you, I could punch through a watermelon. Bro. Okay. We're gonna need to get three watermelons. One for each of us.

Need some sort of, contraption to hold it in place from the top and bottom. Don't you have vices? A clamp. Clamps. I need I need, like, pressure on two points so they hold it in place so I can punch through it.

Yeah. If because I I want I it needs to be sturdy. If there's if someone's holding it, there's too much flex. Okay. I see what you're saying.

I need somebody like, you know, when they're doing the karate boards, you really gotta brace them. I need bracing K. In order to punch through a watermelon. Punch? Yeah.

I'm just writing this down. This is gonna be an a weekend full of watermelon activities. The average punch from a karate black belt is around 325 pounds of force. Okay. You need between two hundred and forty and three hundred and sixty pounds.

You can absolutely punch through a watermelon. I'm pretty sure I could do it. We're gonna give it a shot. We're gonna this is gonna be our fourth of July weekend. Watermelon.

Wonder if I could kick a watermelon in half. I think kicking is easier than punching. I I don't know. You don't? I like, I think I could kick pretty hard, but I think, like, do I wear a shoe?

I don't wanna break my foot. Your shoe is gonna get dirty. It's gonna have watermelon juice. I can hose off my shoe. Wear a I'll wear a water shoe.

You know, the kind, the neoprene slip on water shoe. I'll wear that when I kick a watermelon in half. Cute. I can't wait. I can't wait.

Kick. You were gonna punch? Kick. Know about kicking. I don't know if the kick I don't know if I have the like, I I've played soccer.

I just don't know if I have a I feel better about my punch than my kick. Okay. Time out. We have a friend who is she does taekwondo. Okay.

She's a jiu jitsu master. I know those are different things. I actually don't know which one she is. Alright. I know she does a martial arts of some kind.

Okay. She said 100% you both could punch a watermelon, brace it on some cinder blocks, and kicking is easier than punching. Really? Yeah. That's what I said.

Kicking is easier. I think you have more I feel like you have more force. I don't know. I was stronger than I think. More of a momentum with your with your kicks swinging around than there is from your from your fist just going forward.

I agree with that. There's I mean, people kick in, like, kickboxing and stuff and, like, I mean, you can do some serious damage kicking. TKO. Yeah. You know?

Watermelon on the agenda this weekend. Stay tuned for some videos. Okay. Alright. Yes.

You do. Do I ever? No. Fourth of July trivia. What are you gonna what what have you got?

Do you wanna hear it? Let's I got this third mic. We got a Nate Eaton is in the studio. Nate? Are we on?

You on? No worries, man. It's live radio. Good morning. We're gonna do fourth of July trivia, so you might as well hop on in.

Okay. I'm horrible at trivia. Well, guess what? Hang on two seconds because my computer froze because it's old, and the equipment terrible. Well, while while you're looking all that up, happy pre fourth of July, man.

You ready? You ready? You ready? I I mean, I'm ready. It's just Ready.

All that's all that's left to do is the party. Right? Yes. And the hot dogs, the snow cones, and the popcorn, all the corn on the cob. Food.

Yes. Yes. What do you all normally have on the fourth? Do you have, like, a traditional food? We traditionally, I'm we don't have a tradition for the fourth because Josh has always been working at the fourth.

I've worked at the July 4 forever. Right. In in radio, there there are holidays that are, like, you get the time off after the holidays. Yes. Yes.

Because you're just, you're always working. But, whether it was a parade or or a fireworks show or whatever, and then the last, you know, handful of years being here with the Melaleuca Freedom Celebration Yeah. And Riverfest. I mean, all day. You're you're you're so it's a food truck, and I wander and try different things and see what's up.

There's a there's always a good taco to be had. Or a corn dog. Or yeah. Right? Nachos.

Mhmm. Yeah. So you do the barbecue the day after or a few days later. Yes. Yeah.

And then I do smash burgers on the Blackstone. That's kinda my thing. And what do you put in the smash burgers? Is that where you, like, load it with cheese and onions? I yeah.

I'll put I put all the onions and seasonings and stuff in the patty and then smash them flat, and then I do, like, a double decker with the cheese in between and on top. It's pretty good. Nice. Great stuff. Yeah.

Nice. Alright, guys. You ready? Are you ready? I'm ready.

Alright. Let's go. Which American president was born on July 4? There's only been one. Was Jefferson born?

I was about to say Jefferson. Wrong. No. He died. He died.

Yeah. Oh, he died. Right. Yeah. And so did John Adams.

Right. Okay. Yep. Calvin Coolidge. Coolidge.

Coolidge. Very cool. Alright. Which president was the first to host the fourth of July's celebration at the White House? Oh, man.

Would that have been would that have been prior to the fifties? It was in eighteen o one. '18. Okay. I didn't know if it was, like, way later.

Can I phone a friend? Yeah. No. Oh, okay. No.

It was Thomas Jefferson. Oh, I was gonna say Jefferson. Don't let you know. Don't let me wrong. What is the location of the nation's oldest fourth of July parade?

Virginia. Do you have a guest, Nate? Well, I was going to say Virginia, but I lived in Richmond for years. And they didn't have a parade on the fourth, but it could be another part of Virginia. Really, baby?

Oh, it was in Rhode Island. Rhode Island. Okay. Bristol, Rhode Island. No kidding.

Alright. Okay. One last question. I gotta make it a good one. Right?

Because this is this is good stuff. Yeah. Every Independence Day, how many times does the Liberty Bell ring? Oh, 20. No.

Is it more or less? Less. Once. More. Oh, too bad.

$1, Bob? 13. 13. I don't think any of you got any of those right. I don't think we did either.

But we tried. Study your forecast. I'll be ready for next year. That's right. Yeah.

When you ask the exact same questions. Yeah. Perfect. Alright. Well, anyway, we're working with Nate, on getting ready for some more fourth of July stuff, post fireworks things and stuff like that.

So, anyway, he's in the studio with us for a little while, and, we'll play some more music. And then, you know, if you're still around, we'll talk to you some more. Love to talk. Alright. Would you rather this or that?

Would you rather this is a fourth of July barbecue edition. Okay. Would you rather have a giant slip and slide Cool. Or a water balloon fight? That has nothing to do with a barbecue.

Yeah. It's activities at the barbecue. Yard games. Yeah. These are just summer activities.

Activities at the barbecue. Yeah. Yeah. Fun in the backyard. Okay.

Alright. So it's a water balloon fight or Or a giant slip and slide. Okay. I'm gonna pick the giant slip and slide because only though if it's on a slope. Because I've been on a slip and slide where it's flat and you have to, like, propel your body.

I have video of that. Yeah. It's not so great. I like the video. I think it's fun.

Squirt. Squirt. Squirt. As you scooch yourself down some plastic. Squirt.

Squirt. And the water balloon fight is fun Yep. But it creates a lot of mess. That's exactly what I was gonna say. Preplanning.

I love a water dude, those bunch of balloons changed the game. They really did. They're awesome. And they and they made water balloon fights so much more accessible. What a brilliant invention.

And thanks to whoever on Shark Tank invested in that thing because those are cool. Those are cool. A bunch of balloons. Not a sponsor, but if you wanna send us some, you can. And and we'll play with them.

But here we did one, as like a kickoff to summer last day of school water fight. You did that a few years ago, and you had water guns and hot, not hot not hot air balloons. They were water balloons. Just water balloons. Just all prepped.

We had coolers full of them ready to go. And when the kids got home, we said it's on. And, that was a lot of fun. That was a lot of fun. They weren't expecting that, and, I think we won.

And by we, I mean me. I think we all won because we all have Whoever ends up with the hose in their hand wins. But And, that's the way a water fight goes. Whoever ends up in tears, because that inevitably happens, is the one who loses. The tears happen right after someone goes in the face.

And then you go, oh, no. And then you say, who's cleaning up the mess? Yeah. And there there are little balloon fragments everywhere. Uh-huh.

And then the lawnmower gets all confetti filled. It's a neat time. So for the same reason, I think I'm I'm gonna say slip and slide. Nice. Although, I don't like the squirt.

The squirt. Yeah. It's gotta be on a hill. It kinda needs to be on a hill. Yeah.

Would you rather this or that? I was thinking of, memorable fourth of Julys that I've had, and one that sticks out for me is one when I was living in Pocatello going to college. And my friend and I went to see the fireworks in Pocatello. We saw an amazing band called the Clumsy Lovers. Oh, I love those guys.

I love them too. They were awesome. We had the best time. We're driving home. And as you know, you're in traffic.

You're going 15 miles per hour. It drops. Right. Yeah. And she rear ended somebody.

No. And I was bruised go even going that slowly Yeah. The seat belt bruised my sternum so much Really? That I mean, we had to go to the emergency room to get checked out, and and I had a huge like, a very noticeable noticeable bruise on my chest. For a long time.

For a while. For a week. For six to eight weeks. And it hurt, and my ribs were all hurty. And it was a what what vehicle were you in?

The little truck? No. It was, it was like a stationy wagon type thing. Oh, that thing. I know what you're talking about.

Yeah. Her parents used to work at the deaf and blind school in Gooding. Right. And so they when they got rid of those commissioned vehicles. Correct.

Yeah. So it's So it was it was a station wagon. Yeah. Yeah. And then it was a slow impact Yeah.

And the seat belt locked and you lunged forward. Correct. And, well, at least you were wearing it. You could have been ejected. I I could have.

You better be careful. I'd I've so that's just a warning. Even if you're going slow Yeah. It's gonna hurt. Yeah.

So everybody be mindful. Pay attention as you're going through traffic. There's a lot of people congestion over the weekend. So Sure. Just be slow.

I think yeah. Slow, patient, and kind, and attentive. These are important things. It's also a huge traveling weekend. So if you're gonna be hitting the road at all, please, please, please be careful.

Do we know the estimate? Of people in town? No. AAA always puts out a fourth of July travel, estimate. Oh.

They project a record breaking 72,200,000 Americans will travel for the fourth of July weekend Wow. That started, earlier this week. So between this week and and next week, they're estimating 72,200,000 Americans on the road. That's a lot of people. Please be careful.

They are forecasting the highest number of travelers ever for the fourth of July holiday. 61,600,000 people expected to travel by car alone out of that 72,200,000. So please, please, please be careful. When this last Wednesday, yesterday, that was yesterday. July 2, they anticipated being, the most congested day on the road.

And Sunday, July 6, will be also be incredibly busy as everybody's getting home, and and traveling on that day. So, be careful and, be safe and be patient. And, yeah, if you if you're feeling sleepy, pull over. Take a rest. If you, would please not look at your phone while you're driving, put all the distractions away.

That's really important. Don't drink and drive. Hugely important. Huge. Our kids Hugely important.

We are not celebrating with our kids this year. Our kids are gonna be out of town. Yep. So my kids are on that road. Yeah.

So be safe, everybody. Careful. Please. Please. Please.

Everybody's somebody's kid. Everybody's kids are on the road. That's what I'm saying. So be safe for everyone. Right.

Let's be very, very careful. And, have a happy and safe fourth of July. That is gonna do it for our show, for today. Tomorrow, Riverfest, that's where you're gonna find us. We're gonna be there pretty much all day.

So you can come to Snake River Landing. You can bump into us. Please say hi. Absolutely. We'd love to hang out, take a picture with you, whatever you want.

High fives, that's cool. I'll give high fives all day. Yeah. So come and find us. We'll be at Snake River Landing all day tomorrow.

Of course, the thirty second annual, Melaleuca Freedom Celebration, we're gonna be right there right up to 10:00. We're gonna watch the show with you, and then we'll be right there afterward. We are, teaming up with East Idaho News, this year, again. So, you and I, Chantel, along with Nate Eaton, we're gonna be hanging out, until midnight, hanging out after the fireworks. Right.

So lots of plans there, and, come down and have a lot of fun with us, and be safe and, you know, all the things we've been talking about. It's gonna be a fun fourth of July. I I don't know what else to say. Have a happy one. Yeah.

That's it. And we'll be we'll be live back in the studio on Monday. Until then, happy fourth of July tomorrow. Enjoy your third, and, be safe. Alright.
